Functional Areas

Solution Architecture for various BI Initiatives at EVRAZ, currently focused on Quality & Operations related reporting at different manufacturing units across US & Canada.

Design/Architecture of Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives. We are using Profisee for MDM and have implemented Vendor Master, Product/SKU attributes, Chart of Accounts in Profisee.

Cloud adoption for BI team. We have already migrated our EDW to Azure. Currently we are using IaaS options in azure and working our way towards their PaaS offerings such as SQL Data Warehouse, Azure ML, Azure Streaming etc.

Architect/Project Lead for MDM implementation

EDW team took the lead role in setting up Profisee at EVRAZ and I have worked extensively in that project starting from the initial pilot implementation till many of the critical MDM domains were moved to Profisee. The following are some of the contributions I had for MDM project.

Actively involved in setting up Profisee server environments partnering with infrastructure team and Profisee tech support.

Initial POC project in Profisee where we moved Vendor Master subject area into Profisee. Worked with Purchase team in identifying the business process (workflow) of establishing a vendor (supplier) and different entities to be maintained. We are also using Profisee workflow features so that all record keeping related to vendor creation can be maintained with in Profisee including electronic signatures of various approvers

After successful implementation of Vendor Master in Profisee we a have brought in many other subject areas into Profisee such as Product Specifications, Manufacturing Process Parameters, Melting Practice,Employee Master, Chart of Accounts, different product Hierarchies etc. There is a number of enterprise applications directly integrated with Profisee like Oracle EBS, Workday (HR/Payroll), MES Systems, Purchasing systems such as Maximo.

The following are some my contributions for MDM on an ongoing basis.

Build/Maintain the data models.

Architect level contributions to build workflows for specific use cases.

Architecture level support creation/maintenance of Business rules.

Negotiations with applications teams in integration/automation jobs with Profisee.

Solution Architect for CANADIAN OPS REPORTING

EVRAZ is targeting to increase their productivity by 20% in the next 2 years and they have brought in external management consultants (Falconi) to help with the process. Worked with Falconi team in identifying the KPIs to be tracked and Reporting/Dashboard templates to deliver those to different user groups. The KPIs being tracked were OEE (overall equipment efficiency), performance, quality and availability. The reports were decided to be delivered through various channels such as TV displays (android boxes) at different locations inside the plant, mobile devices, PC/web browsers. Updated EDW Data model to accommodate the new additions, spec-ed out ETL and report development activities and coordinated development/delivery of those.

Data Architect & Development Lead for PRODUCT/SKU LEVEL COSTING Project

This is a new subject area in EDW where in which we are bringing in operational and financial data together for allocating manufacturing cost per Product/SKU. There are several use cases for this information such as profitability analysis, management/control of various production costs, statutory reporting to government, The overall solution included the following components. The cost allocation step of this is done in Hyperion cubes, EDW gathers the data from source systems and stage in EDW from the source systems and generates files in specified format so that the Hyperion automation scripts can pick up. Once the cubes are refreshed, output from the cube will come back to EDW in a similar format we are feeding them. This data will be normalized in EDW and made available for further consumption in different use cases.

Project Lead/Architect for QADW migration to EDW

QADW was a legacy reporting database to facilitate R&D and Quality teams for their analytical data needs. Brought in QADW to EDW for better ownership and maintenance of this dataset with common tools technologies.

Project Lead & Architect for EDW Azure Migration Project

This project was to revamp EDW architecture to segment EDW Data structures appropriately so that there is a clear separation of different data tiers in EDW .The overall objective is to bring in all legacy reporting databases into EDW on a continuous basis. EDW has been migrated to Azure the early 2019. Currently we are using IaaS options in azure and working our way towards their PaaS offerings such as SQL Data Warehouse, Azure ML, Azure Streaming etc.

Project Lead/Architect for Power BI Reporting..

Played a key role in bringing in Power BI as the enterprise reporting tool for EVRAZ. Worked with the infrastructure team in enabling Azure AD sync so that power Bi credentials aligns with on prem windows sign in, this also helped in using other azure services also using the same credentials as that of on prem AD

We have started migrating our reporting to power BI from mid-2017 onwards and its widely accepted with our user community now. With this larger user adoption and the needs for addition features, we have moved to premium capacity last year. We have 400+ users and its growing at a steady rate.

SOLUTION ARCHITECT & PROJECT LEADER FOR ORACLE CRMOD/EDW INTEGRATION PROJECT.

CRMOD is a cloud based CRM solution from Oracle and this project brought in this data to EDW and conformed to the rest of the subject areas in BI. We had many challenges from its get go like no direct connectivity options to the source other than the standard web Services, data size limitations of web services, challenges with CDC aspects of the datasets. I was instrumental in figuring out a solution approach using SAP DS web service connectors and control structures. Major accomplishments with this project were Sales Pipeline reporting, Budget vs Actuals vs forecast reporting, Forecast/Planning reporting.

SOLUTION ARCHITECT FOR SALESFORCE/EDW INTEGRATION

Entrustdatacard has moved to Salesforce as their enterprise CRM application with the acquisition of Entrust and completed the project integrating salesforce data to EDW. This project included redesigning of CRM subject area in EDW in accordance with the additional data elements coming in from salesforce and also data conversion and preservation of data elements from CRMOD. The ETL/Data Integration was using Salesforce connectors for SAP DS. Took key role in setting up the connectors and establishing SSL certificates needed for salesforce.

PROJECT LEADER FOR EDW FOUNDATION PROJECT.

Entrust data card is one of the earliest implementers of a readymade DW solution from Business Objects commonly referred as Rapid Marts. Over the years Data Card had done several customizations to the base product and those were not done in an orderly fashion. This project will scrub through the current Rapid Mart content subject area by subject area, reverse engineer the content into Erwin, scrub through the data elements and remove data elements that are no longer relevant for the business.

ETL Architect/Developer GMAC RFC, Bloomington, MN Aug 2004 - Aug 2005

As an ETL Architect, was instrumental in introducing the concept of a unified ETL architecture to the Data Warehouse team. Created the initial proof of concept, and was asked to implement the ETL architecture in one of the projects. The major breakthrough with this approach was making the ETL process transparent to the Data Consumers and Providers business units without directly engaging Data Warehouse team personnel. This was accomplished through a set of architecture tables and by building Informatica mapping templates to maintain the tables automatically, along with the regular Data Movement operations. The templates became part of all mapping adhering to the architecture. The first two releases of this project have been completed and are in Production. Received many accolades for accomplishments.

SR. Developer Sprint – PCS, Overland Park, KS Aug 2001 – Dec 2003

NMS CONVERSION PROJECT

Worked as a Senior Informatica Developer with the Data Migration team on an initiative to bring in a centralized Number Management system, across multi-vendor Billing and Customer Support applications. Was responsible for transferring data from the existing legacy systems to the new NMS system from AMDOCS. The significance of this project was a high level of business dependency, minimum down time, and very large data volume (over 300 million records, including current and history data). Set up Informatica development environment for the NMS conversion, designed and developed Informatica Mappings based on the specifications established by the Requirements team, created and maintained standards for the coding and naming conventions, and administered Informatica Server and Repository. Worked extensively on integrating Informatica developments with other tools, such as Syncsort, Oracle PL/SQL processes, and Unix shell process.

RENAISSANCE CONVERSION PROJECT

This was an initiative to eliminate third-party billing contractors and bring the Billing systems to an in-house maintained application from AMDOCS. Worked as a Senior Developer with the Data Migration team to build a custom ETL tool that was used as the conversion Engine. The conversion engine consisted of a set of Extractors, Translators, and Loaders with the inter-process communications through MQ Series messages. Role was to develop the Price Plan module, one of the subject areas in the Translator. The conversion engine was unique in its nature, unlike other conventional migration projects; the data was transferred online, when both the Billing systems were up and running. This helped establish a 0 down time for the Billing systems, as well as the Sprint business/customer support activities.

ENVIRONMENT:
