Successfully earned a Human Resources Management Diploma and a Bachelor of Arts Degree

Superior understanding of relevant legislation and regulations including AODA, Employment Standards Act, Pay Equity Act, ODA, Human Rights Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Well-versed in each of these human resources disciplines: Occupational Health and Safety, training and development, employee relations, and recruitment and selection

Ability to assess situations with accuracy and acumen

Advanced skills in consulting, negotiating, conflict resolution, and consensus building

Tactful, diplomatic and able to communicate with individuals by demonstrating honesty, confidentiality and professionalism

Relevant Work Experience

Recruit staff including developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job advertisements, checking application forms, and shortlisting

Identify talent and coordinate all processes involved of the review and interview of candidates by conducting competency-based interactive interviews

Working in a unionized environment, dealing with the grievance process

Cultivate working relationships with referral agencies

Responsible for the selection, orientation, and training of new employees

Analyze training programs by evaluating their effectiveness to specific job applications, independently design training manuals to meet training needs, and maintain individual records

Develop accurate staffing requirement forecasts on a weekly/monthly/yearly basis for 100 employees within specified deadlines

Administer payroll and maintain employee records

Liaise with a wide range of people involved in policy areas such as staff performance and health and safety

Provide guidance to all levels of employees regarding personnel policies and procedures requiring some policy and procedure interpretation

Provide coaching and advice to managers and employees to facilitate problem-resolution and provide day-to-day support and advice

Work directly with senior management to establish employee guidelines and protocols and make recommendations for corrective action and continuous improvement

Visit various businesses to ensure service standards are in accordance with policies and procedures

Record facts and maintain detailed documentation and manage the electronic document and records management system

Compile daily/monthly/quarterly data for reports and execute detailed reports accordingly

Provide administrative support maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion

Perform forecasting, statistic collection and analysis, and trend analysis

Accurately enter data for in-house inventory

Perform general office duties, provide telephone support and maintain up-to-date confidential files

Maintain HRIS database including but not limited to, data entry and report generation
