Business Education Teacher, Hatboro Horsham, Wissahickon HS 1981 – 1983

Example of Projects I have managed:

1. Upon the sale of IMR, I went to a social services Non-Profit in NYC that served the developmentally disabled and autistic population. As I got involved and learned the Medicaid and Non-Profit world I uncovered significant fraud and abuse of Medicaid funds. I worked with the FBI and OPWDD to identify and find the source of the activity resulting in the agency being transferred to a new reputable organization and certain individuals responsible being charged and convicted. While this was extremely challenging and upsetting I also learned a great deal about MMIS (Medicaid Management Information System) from an agency perspective.

2. Revenue Cycle Management and Medical Records Processing. This was for a large healthcare provider where we designed and implemented a system built using the OnBase platform to process all medical records for billing. This involved working with the HIM staff to understand their As-IS process, document it and then transition that from a paper-based process to a digital one. Overall goal was to reduce paper, improve patient care, and provide for faster, more accurate billing. Software: OnBase, AnyDoc, McKesson Horizon Patient Folder. Also led a team to implement new electronic workflows utilizing Siemens Soarian HIM system.

2. Accounts Payable Automation. This project was for a large multinational organization where I led a team responsible for improving their accounts payable process. What we did after completing our initial discovery was consolidate multiple locations where invoices were received to 3 different PO Boxes based upon the type of invoice. We would then have our staff pick up the invoices each day, scan and index them using Docuware and OCR technology. These invoices would then be uploaded to a server located in Turkey each night where they were then distributed and processed. This automation saved days on the payment cycle time allowing our client to take early payment discounts and manage their entire workflow more efficiently. Software: Docuware, AnyDoc, OnBase

3. HR On-Boarding implementation project for a large hospital. I worked with the client to automate the hiring and performance management process for the entire organization. This resulted in improved employee relations and made the entire hiring process run more efficiently. This solution was built using OnBase and AnyDoc Technology

4. State Pension Office. I led a team of professionals that completely redefined the Pension Administration Process for the State of Delaware. This resulted in reduced cycle times for processing an addition, deletion or change to an employee’s pension file. This solution was built using OnBase technology.

5. State Civil Services Commission. I led a team responsible for automating the Civil Service process that the Commonwealth of PA utilized for hiring, on-boarding and administering all civil service positions in Pennsylvania.

6. Early in my career at GE, I was responsible for all HHS reporting for new Radiology Installations and CT Tube replacements via the processing of FDA 2579 Documentation

7. Also during my time at GE worked for a Surgical Laser Technology start-up which ultimately was purchased by J&J in this role I was responsible for all procurement of parts and materials from Japan to build these contact laser systems which was a brand new technology at the time. I was responsible for their MRP System by building the Bill of Materials and maintaining the BOM within their SOLOMON Accounting system.
