As a supervisor I have to be great with communication and informing my employees of what needs to be done. As a Sergeant in the jail, I have to regularly communicate with the public as well as my staff in a wide range of situations throughout my shift. During a typical shift, I’ve handled a variety of people including but not limited to: drunk and disorderly, people scared for their life, to those who are just upset. Communication is crucial in keeping even the most difficult situations under control.

LEADERSHIP

I have been a Sergeant at the Collin County Jail for about 2 years and a supervisor in my previous positions. While being a Sergeant at Collin County, I have learned many different skills. I believe that in order to lead, I need to lead by example and build my staff up to reach their goals as well as the goals of the department. My goal as a supervisor is to work harder, teach, and help my staff when they need it.
