Somerset, United Kingdom22 contributions12 helpful votes Beautiful house with great views

Where to start. This house was like a show house, it’s beautiful. It’s walking distance to Camps Bay beach front and the bars and restaurants that are there. You can breakfast downstairs or delivered to your room. Or you can sit outside and having it.

Matilda and Andre are great hosts and the staff are lovely and welcoming. I would like to thank Matilda for our early morning chats over a pot of tea. Also for their recommendations of places to go and visit and eat. If you’re lucky enough to get to stay here I hope you have as great a stay as we did. Read less

Week in Camps Bay

Excellent Guest House, hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Andre even brought us some tablets when we had upset stomachs! Great views, comfy rooms and beds. Continental breakfasts. Nice outdoor seating/ lounge area. Bit of an uphill walk from Camps Bay, ok if you have normal mobility, otherwise a short Uber trip. Lovely house. Read less

We had a wonderful stay at the Beta Beach House. What a lovely property and excellent hosts. The views from the rooms and pool area are amazing. The room was fully equipped and were large. The bathrooms were clean and very large. It only has 4 rooms so it's not crowed. There is water and wine in your room daily (bottle of wine is only $11 US dollars and local and excellent). You can see the sunset from the pool or the balcony. The service and breakfast was well over my expectations. They really cater to every need and make sure you are comfortable and happy with your stay. Highly, highly recommend. Read less

We were planning to stay here for 2 nights, but extended our stay because it was so relaxing! The hosts were very welcoming and accomodating with our special requests, especially breakfast.

The first night we spent at the spacious room with mountain view. This room was very nice! After that we were able to transfer to a room with seaview, and this room made out trip to Cape Town for us! We couldn't be more excited about the view over the ocean, watching the sunset from the relaxed sofa's and waking up to the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks below.

Camps Bay shops and restaurants are a 10 minute (safe) walk away. 15 minutes return, because you have to walk uphill for a bit.

Breakfast was nice and served in room in a picknick basket on request. Thank you so much for a lovely stay!

Exceptional

Liked · Although the views were excellent, the best part was definitely the owners and staff. They really went out of their way to make the experience an exceptional one. From packing a picnic basket breakfast for our early morning outing, to providing a local cell phone for us to use during our excursions, everything was done at a personal level of service that was completely unexpected and appreciated. Disliked · Leaving. We should have booked longer.

Conscientious about green issues (recycled /reusable breakfast food containers etc). And tasty food and tasteful decor. Fantastic stay

Liked · Mathilda and Andre were excellent hosts. They provided great tips and were always happy to chat. Their staff were friendly and helpful. The room with the sea view overlooked camps bay and we woke up to sunrise every morning. The room was pretty, had everything we needed and turned down daily. Breakfast was hearty and yummy. We would recommend staying in camps bay for lovely views and security. It was easy to get around with Uber. The hop on hop off bus stop at camps Bay is about 10 mins walk from the property.

Disliked · Just a point to note - The sea view room faces the afternoon sun so it can get warm if you’re planning to stay in. Of course, the views are well worth it and there is air conditioning to battle the heat. We didn’t mind as we were out most of the day. Sanelisiwe South Africa

Couldn’t have been any better

Liked · Our hosts were absolutely lovely - really interesting to talk to and v helpful. The location is great - it is a 10 min walk downhill to get onto the seafront in Camps Bay, and seems safe to walk around at night too. It’s approx 15 mins in an Uber into Cape Town central which costs around rand 90 / £5ish, or slightly more if you’re heading to the V&A waterfront. The Hussar Grill (best steak!) and Codfather (seafood!) both v good, and 5-10 min walk from the guest house. If, like we were, you are wondering where on earth to stay in South Africa / Cape Town, we can assure you that Camps Bay is the best area - nowhere where else do you get such picturesque sunsets, and WOW, the photos do not do the view justice at Beta Beach. Delicious breakfasts every morning which can be brought up in the cutest picnic hamper to your room to enjoy with a coffee and THAT VIEW (breakfasts are continental: fruit salad, cereal/yoghurt compote and something warm like croissants or quiche). They are delicious and perfect amount to set you up for the day - we often didn’t even need lunch. To start the day with fruit and granola was very welcome given it is very easy to indulge in far too much amazing food and wine in SA! Room was peaceful, blackout curtains, huge comfy bed, we found ourselves wanting long lie-ins and early evenings watching the sunset (with our handy CURRICULUM VITAE ANDRE AND MATHILDA LOCKE

mini bar stocked with wine and beers for convenience). We just couldn’t have asked for more from our 1 week stay. Loved it, and wish we didn’t have to leave. Disliked · Nothing!

Scandinavian style beach-front bliss

Liked · This place is a Scandinavian- style haven. The finish is beautiful, high quality but minimal, the outlook into camps bay is utterly stunning. The place is spotlessly clean with all of your needs met and lovely touches, like different fresh warm pastries every morning from the local bakery (and much more), a cafetière and fresh coffee in the bedroom, and a lovely communal lounge. The pool area feels private and relaxing. Mathilde and Andre were very warm and accommodating hosts, though not overbearing, with plenty of experience, you’ll feel looked after and also have your privacy. Overall we couldn’t fault the place.
