Industrial Engineer 2 15th April 2017– Current
Essendant, Cranbury, NJ Jon Easto
Maximized the performance of the field operations organization by creating innovative continuous process improvement solutions & promoting the adoption of best practices and standard operating procedures. This included new technology and up to date practices using Lean, Six Sigma and Visual Management concepts.
Developed and sustained effective working relationships with leaders to influence and align people at all levels to support performance objectives by adopting new Standardized work procedures.
Developed an automated reporting (Health Report) that has multiple key metrics (Inbound, Outbound, and ICE) that help identify the health of the facility allowing to more proactively recognize a potential issue and is currently used by all the facilities in the network and has helped us to foresee multiple problem facilities.
Developed a Quality Dashboard supporting 7 new metrics to work towards improving customer experience and quality of shipments and shift away from the traditional credit focused mindset, instead focusing on the internal processes that may create an error has helped increase our shipment quality throughout the network by 75%
Developed a Shipping Productivity and Accountability application using R and R shiny tool to measure and review the shipping Associate and is currently being used by more than 50 Essendant facilities country wide.
Developed an Application using SQL & R/ R shiny to measure the percentage of Leave behinds from our facility every day, which help reduce the leave behinds by more than 70% throughout the network.
Built a Forecasting Tool to forecast the No of corrugated boxes used daily, saving about $120k on excess ordering.
Partnered with team members in the use of improvement techniques like HPT, Lean, Six Sigma, Time studies.
Increased operational efficiencies through improving Item Slotting within each Jan-San and Office Products site, improving the speed in which we can serve the customer as well as reduce labor spend by 15%.
Identified our top items and currently placing those items where they belong: closest to the dock or induction points, making it easier and faster to pick these items as well as receive into our inventory.
Promoted a culture that fosters innovation and sharing best practices between facilities and across business units.
Industrial Engineering Research Lead 5th Jan 2015 – 31st Jan 2016
University of Missouri, MO /Mayo Clinic, MN Dr. Jung Hyup Kim
Conducted Time and Motion Study on nurses working in ED, identifying 40% obstructions in clinical processes.
Conducted Statistical Process Analysis on the data collected to identify trends and patterns in the nurse’s work.
The findings from the time and motion study demonstrate that nurses spent 43% of their time on EMR system.
Time study also showed us that the nurses’ workflow is characterized by interruptions. The majority of interruptions (around 75%) in our study occurred during EMR documentation.
The common cause of interruption was by colleagues, which has a 47.38% chance of interrupting the nurses’.
Developed Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA) chart for each care provider to understand task care provider needs to perform to achieve certain goals.
Developed Discrete Event Simulation to accurately model the emergency department workflow and understand how different clinical processes influence situational awareness of the care providers in ED.
Findings from these simulation models revealed that there was 152.4% increase in time taken by nurses for EMR charting when they faced interruption
Findings from the simulation model revealed that workload of nurse increased by 25% during an interruption
Investigated the causes for a high workload, utilizing Work/Time Standards to decrease it and eventually enhancing the working nature of the attendants, the quality of care, and the security of look up after patients.
Worked on multiple projects simultaneously under pressure and short deadlines, with minimal supervision.
Process Engineer 7th Jan 2013 – 26th July 2014
Senergy Pvt. Consultants Ltd., Mumbai, India
Developed full energy audit process using Microsoft Project, including procedures and documentations
Created simulations of building systems and researched energy conservation opportunities for individual firms.
Reviewed and negotiated cost estimates and cost proposals prepared by contractors and engineering firms.
Used Value Stream Mapping has a graphical technique to identify the level of energy use and Non-value added energy, thereby discovering saving opportunities at each step of different processes.
Collected Energy Audit data on process parameters, power, temperature, and compressed air.
Used Six Sigma statistical process analysis tools to find and address root causes of energy wastes and variation.
Identified and implemented employee ideas for saving energy and reducing wastes through Kaizen events.
Used Total productive maintenance (TPM) as a method to optimize the effectiveness of equipment.
Encouraged Energy Efficiency with Standard Work (SOP), Visual Controls, SQDC and Mistake-Proofing
Orchestrated seminars on energy management practices and procedures for the business community.
Saved around 40,000 $ among 15 companies audited during my tenure by using Lean & Six Sigma techniques
