Role: Operations and health & safety manager.
Snowland is America s (continent) first indoor snow dome. I was part of the founding team that built and setup the park. I was solely responsible for the construction and implementation of all the operations and day-to-day park management once it opened. It is now receiving over 360,000 visitors (2.3m visitors since opening in Oct 2013) I was responsible for overseeing, hiring and training 200+ staff members, including setting up a Snow academy in a country without Snow and without snow-professionals.
Key responsibilities:
Responsible for building the
operation from the ground up for
opening.
Responsible of all man
management aspects, such as
rostering, wages, hiring, reviews,
etc.
H&S officer and responsible for all
forms of safety and security, as
well as compliance of local laws.
Yearly budgeting and planning for
all operational departments.
Member of the senior planning
committee.
Responsible for planning and
executing all in-snow-maintenance
(snow groomer, lifts, snow
making, new projects, etc).
Development of new techniques
and technologies to improve the
park s operation.
Implementation of new
attractions & equipment.
Responsible for leading all
development work following
opening including remodeling all
the necessary areas to improve
the park s functionality.
Responsible for selecting all ski
and snowboard equipment and
placing the required orders.

Key achievements
Snowland’s has presented me with various challenges throughout the start-up phase and continues now that we’re focused on refining and improving the running of the park as well as the development of new attractions, always looking to improve the service offering in the guest experience.
One key achievement which I am immensely proud to have been a part of is the overall opening of Snowland in South America. No company has done this previously. In my operations manager role I had to train and develop a very inexperienced team and today, 5 years later, part of that initial team is still working at the company and are proper snow professionals now (including 3 current managers).
Awards
In 2015 and 2017 I received an award by the CBDN (Brazilian confederation of Snow Sports) for my work on developing the snow sports in Brazil.
In August 2018 I was officially named as one of the senior professionals in Brazil s committee to develop, write and implement 7 new laws for water, theme and snow parks. Period: July 2007 – September 2012.
Company: Snowplanet LTDA, Auckland.
Role: Operations/projects manager
At Snowplanet I progressed through different roles. I started working as an attendant when I first arrived in New Zealand, and shortly after I was moved into an operations Manager position, where I was in charge of managing the daily operations of the park including Health and safety, snow operations, maintenance, customer service as well as the management of all projects.
Key responsibilities:
Day to day running of the park.
Fulfil Duty management roles
when required.
Health & Safety officer.
Fire and emergency.
Fulfil duties as ski race coach and
ski instructing when necessary.
Operations management (rentals,
reception, snow school,
maintenance).
Wages and HR management (for
operational departments)
Purchases and projects manager.
Snow maintenance (including snow
groomer, lift maintenance, snow
production)
Product development.
Project management. (from
conception to execution).
Senior first aider and emergency
committee leader.
Monthly operations report to the
board of directors.
Overall event management.
Key achievements
Successfully dealt with the ongoing management of Snowplanet. Further to this I am particularly proud of introducing new systems and processes whilst I was there which improved the overall performance of the park. These new systems and processes contributed to improved customer satisfaction and visitor ship numbers. I was also instrumental in reviewing the internal policies and procedures concerned with health and safety which resulted in a significantly improved ACC rating and reduced the levies for Snowplanet.
