Participant in post-professional and planned learning experience through the Ola Grimsby Institute with focus on advanced orthopedic manual therapy, education, and case study research project. The program covers different models of pathology (neurology, biomechanical, chemical), regional interdependence relationships, movement systems, medical screening, pathology, imaging, and nutrition throughout the curriculum. Complete aspects of patient care including psychosocial influences and chronic pain are explored in detail, along with 150 mentoring hours from FAAOMPT certified clinicians. The Manual Therapy Fellowship program of the Ola Grimsby Institute is accredited by the AAOMPT, in compliance with the standards set nationally and internationally by IFOMPT. The designation of FAAOMPT is held by less than 2% of all practicing Physical Therapist in the United States. February 9, 2019 – January 17, 2020

Ola Grismby Institute Manual Therapy Residency, Portola Valley, CA

Participant in post professional didactic clinical education through a yearlong orthopedic manual therapy residency through Ola Grimsby with over a 40-year history of providing continuing education seminars, certification programs in manual therapy as well as exercise, Orthopedic Residency programs, Fellowship programs, and even a PhD program. The overall curriculum included seminars in manual therapy, with a Norwegian origin and flavor, but a modern evidence-based approach to teaching and clinical practice. Additionally, the STEP (scientific, therapeutic, exercise progressions) curriculum, which is a progression of the Norwegian MET (medical exercise therapy), offers and advanced education in exercise design, dosage and progression. An emphasis on differential diagnosis and critical thinking, with a classification system to determine diagnosis and intervention. Direct 1:1 mentorship of over 150 hours with FAAOMPT accredited clinicians aimed to improve clinical reasoning and problem solving to assist with development of a patient diagnosis as well as a plan of care. Interventional focus on manual therapy-based method with emphasis on soft tissue techniques, articulations (i.e. oscillations and stretch) joint mobilizations, extremity manipulation and spinal manipulation. Student Physical Therapist in a private orthopedic practice with an orthopedic residency and fellowship program through NAIOMT specializing in manual physical therapy. Elective 6-week course with an integrated model investigating the best degree of evidence-based research and interventions relevant to managing disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system. Interventions included advanced muscle energy, mobilization, and manipulation techniques, sport specific interventions, modalities, making custom orthotics, and neuromuscular re-education techniques.
