Packaging Engineer II Apr. 2018 – Present

• Lead Packaging Engineer for Caterpillar’s Midwest Container Cross Dock. Managing, facilitating, designing, and developing all international manufacturing packaging needs. Partnered with Caterpillar’s 3PL provider, Neovia Logistics, on numerous projects and standard process implementations. Instructed and trained Neovia employees how to properly follow MEPS instructions and use packaging materials. MWCCD packaging materials included wood, corrugate, plastics, and metal.

• Lead and managed three contract employees that assisted with the creation and implementation of over 6,000 packaging records. These employees reported to me weekly, for a total of 7 months.

• Managed budgets of over $2,000,000 each for our packaging suppliers, Veritiv and FCA. New standard processes, savings projects, monthly meetings and ordering systems were implemented for both Veritiv and FCA to more efficiently manage the supplier relationship.

• Responsible for over $1,727,000 in packaging saving and reduction projects, surpassing a metrics goal of $1,100,000. These projects included improved efficient and effective packaging methods with CAT suppliers and MWCCD repackaging.

• Responsible for over 1,406,000 pounds in by-product material savings and 402 tons of greenhouse CO2 gas savings, surpassing a metrics goal of 690,500 pounds. Projects included reducing wood, corrugate, and plastic packaging materials, the use of returnable packaging, and improved utilization to reduce ground truck freight, air freight, and ocean sea container freight transportation.

• Credited with 45 continuous improvement projects and 38 implemented packaging projects. These projects implemented new packaging designs, solutions, methods, and materials, Safety and Risk Reduction, 5S principles, and they ensured the best and most cost-effective transportation method.

• Created over 8,100 packaging instruction records, which improved our facility packaging records compliance from 60.5% in 2018 to 89.3% at the beginning of 2020.

• A part of numerous cross-functional teams, ranging from Procurement/ Purchasing supplier project implementations, prime product containerization implementations, 4D Visual Simulation Lab team, ‘Packaging Fact Pack’ team, and Packaging Reduction 3PL team. Oshkosh Corporation Oshkosh, WI

• Implemented and onboarded Oshkosh suppliers to CH Robinson’s TMS system, TMC. Once compliant and on-boarded, responsible for maintaining relationship between supplier and TMC.

• Investigated savings opportunities by researching freight pay data. Fiscal year savings goal of $800,000 was doubled during the 2017 fiscal year, making the defense savings just over $1,600,000.

• Responsible for over $230,000 in savings implemented, including projects regarding LTL reductions, milk-run routes, and savings equation creation.

• Conducted and organized cross-functional meetings and projects through the Defense TLC Team. Implemented savings projects that effected more than one business segment and was present to defense leadership.

• Conducted meetings to implement and onboard Oshkosh suppliers to Oshkosh’s standardized expendable packaging process, which included standardized box sizes, pack quantities, and ship patterns.

• Implemented and onboarded Oshkosh suppliers to Oshkosh’s Chep program, a returnable packaging pooling system. This included standardized returnable container sizes and standardized pack.

• Investigated a returnable metal rack design, communicated with a third-party packaging company to assist with the design and prototype, and conducted a return on investment investigation for the returnable metal rack.

• Right-sized over 2,000 parts for Oshkosh’s Chep program and expendable standardized packaging process, which included over $90,000 in packaging deductions.
