Resume:

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to express my interest in a position for the role of SEN Teacher at your school. I am currently living in Doha and have been teaching at Al Jazeera Academy for the last 3 years and am now looking to further my experience by applying everything that I have learned so far, in a new and exciting setting. As I have experience teaching in a school that follows the British national curriculum and caters for mainly Qatari nationals, I believe that my skillset and experience make me an ideal candidate for the role at your school.

My current role consists of teaching Maths to learners ranging from Year 1-9 experiencing mild, moderate and severe learning difficulties. I work in conjunction with class teachers to identify students with special learning requirements, plan and deliver sessions in order to address areas of development and support learners to meet their year group expectations. Thus far, by addressing specific gaps in students’ learning and accommodating for the individual needs of each student, I have helped students to meet their targets and improve their exam results, ranging from 5 to 10% each year. I am also experienced in completing and implementing IEPs and SNAP (special needs assessment profile) assessments to help tailor and differentiate lessons for students in order to support further progress. I have also used IEPs as a basis to engage with parents and support them in aiding their children’s progression.

Throughout my time at Al Jazeera, I have gained experience in using technology to engage learners and provide stimulating tasks to support progress within lessons. Platforms such as Power Maths, Clicker 7 and iMaths have enabled me to improve my teaching and deliver content in new and refreshing ways. My experience in an international setting has enabled me to develop my cultural sensitivity and not only cater for the academic needs of learners, but also their emotional and social needs. Through teaching EAL students, I have embedded certain strategies and techniques within my practice so that language is no longer a barrier in allowing students to achieve.

I have a PGCE in SEN. I completed a 4 month placement at ITS College in Barnsley, where I taught level 1 and 2 English and Maths and managed around 10 learners at a time. Many learners had a range of complex needs including epilepsy, Huntington’s disease and autism. My experience also includes 5 months at Greenacre school in Barnsley. I worked with 14-17 learners and delivered lessons to students with a wide range of complex needs. Both of these placements helped me to develop a range of behaviour management strategies that I initially learned as a Youth Worker. They also helped me to develop my skills in integrating multi sensory activities into lessons, differentiated instruction and assistive technology such as Makaton. My PGCE experience highlighted the importance of inclusion and adapting teaching in order to allow SEN students to achieve their potential.

Thank you for your interest and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours Sincerely,

Adam Hussain
