SUMMARY

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

NAES CORPORATION 2018-2019

Plant Manager, Kimura Power, LLC (3/18-4/19)

Reported to Director of Operations of NAES Corporation, a service provider, for the assets owned by Rockland Capital, LLC (previously owned by Dayton Power and Light Company). Total responsibility for Operations, Maintenance, P&L, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance for six different power plant sites which contain nineteen simple cycle gas turbine-generators ranging from 18 to 100 MW, fourteen 2.5 MW diesel generators, and a 1 MW solar facility. Five plants are in Ohio and one in Indiana. Responsible for approximately 20 personnel located at two different sites.

Responsible for initial conversion from previous deregulated utility company to investment owned LLC configuration. This required development of financial, operational, maintenance, purchasing, inventory, human resources, safety, and regulatory compliance procedures and responsibilities that were at corporate level with previous company.

Implemented all new systems, both manual and software based within first year of sale to new company. Initially, created all Purchasing functions using Excel until new CMMS system (Maximo) could be developed and implemented.

Implemented QuickBooks for financials within first 3 months. Performed all Payroll functions manually until QuickBooks was implemented.

Implemented Maximo (CMMS software) within first 9 months, developing equipment hierarchy first for Tait and Montpelier, then developed the hierarchy for Yankee, Hutchings, Monument, and Sidney last. Conducted year end inventory and uploaded all inventory from all sites into Maximo. Created and Implemented Work Order System in Maximo 9 months after sale to new owners. No CMMS system was in use prior to this.

Within first year, hired new Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager, EHS Specialist, and four additional O&M Technicians to prepare Tait Station for 24/7 Operational coverage for 365 days a year.

Responsible for NERC, EPA, BUSTR, OSHA, and PJM compliance for all six generation sites.

DAYTON POWER AND LIGHT COMPANY (Miamisburg, Ohio) 2000-2018

Plant Manager, Peakers (6/13-3/18)

Reported to President, Generation and was responsible for managing a group of 17 management and union employees, overseeing the operation of nineteen gas turbine-generators ranging from 18 to 100MW, fourteen 2.5MW diesel generators, and a solar facility. All this equipment was located at 6 different locations (5 in Ohio, and one in Indiana). Also, oversaw the closure of a retired coal fired power plant, O. H. Hutchings Station, which was a utility plant with six Mid-merit 68MW coal-fired steam turbine-generators

Consistently improved safety record of plant and has met all DART and TCIR goals. Operated over 12 years without a Lost Time Accident.

Developed and maintained the budgets for the 6 individual sites and planned out all maintenance and capital improvement projects.

Oversaw the planning, budgeting, and implementation of updating the gas turbine-generators to dual fuel capability in order to operate on diesel fuel in case of loss of natural gas supply during critical operations.

Oversaw the sale of portions of the retired coal plant (O.H. Hutchings) to generate additional revenue for the parent company.

Coordinated the annual Capacity and MVAR testing on all primary mover equipment to meet PJM requirements.

Prepared and collected much of the documentation and data needed to prepare the sale of the six sites to potential buyers. Along with my O&M Manager, presented all the material created for the sale of the fleet of peaking units.

Senior Operations Manager (O.H. Hutchings Station) (1/00-6/13)

Reported to Plant Manager, O.H. Hutchings Station and Peakers. Was responsible for managing a group of 30-45 salary and hourly (union) employees, overseeing the operation of a utility plant with six Mid-Merit 68MW coal fired steam turbine generators.

Performed in dual role as Interim Plant Manager and Operations Manager five times, most recently from March 2010 to February 2012. In charge of plant during any periods of Plant Manager’s absence. Developed numerous budgets and manpower requirements.

Carried out the duties of Safety Manager at OHHS for over 7 years, overseeing the Safety Coordinator at OHHS. Very involved with safety improvements and in the past, was formally trained in OSHA and Asbestos rules and regulations. Had direct input to the DP&L Lockout/Tagout procedure.

Pre-planned any scheduled outages to maximize availability and reliability, with Commercial Operations, getting PJM approval prior to implementation.

Managed all of coal handling operations at OHHS, developing training materials and testing criteria. Responsible for day to day operation and maintenance of all coal handling equipment and personnel. Was liaison with Production Fuels organization. 13 years of experience in coal handling operations.

Assisted in development of computerized Fuel Management System for entire company, focusing on OHHS requirements. Performed monthly Sarbanes Oxley checks to ensure data entered in system is accurate.

History of strong relationship with union employees using a consultative approach and mutual trust, constantly looking for win-win solutions through the issue resolution process. Very few disagreements progressed to the formal issue process.

NERC coordinator for OHHS, ensuring all procedures were followed and all personnel were properly trained in all aspects of NERC compliance.

Coordinator of all tours of OHHS plant site for both internal and external customers and personnel. Performed quarterly DP&L new hire tours of OHHS plant site. Gave numerous tours to city, school, and university students/officials.

Implemented operational procedures to reduce opacity exceedances and bring OHHS into EPA compliance with zero or near zero opacity exceedances.

Oversaw PJM Capacity testing for all OHHS areas and has met or exceeded all PJM targets every year.

Developed various schedules and managed overtime to best utilize limited manpower resources during high and low operating periods. Coordinates and manages transfer of OHHS employees to J.M. Stuart Station during low operating periods to reduce overall company costs.

Recruited, hired and trained more than forty personnel for employment in the Operations Department at OHHS. Trained employees in procedures to operate units with limited resources, using the probationary period to evaluate new hires and discharge, if necessary. Heavily involved with Interliance training for OHHS, which had 100% participation.

Recipient of two DPL Achievement Awards (2001 and 2003).

United Way Chairman for DP&L in 2011.

Project Construction Manager, AES Tait Energy Storage (4/13-10/13)

Temporary position that reported to AES Headquarters in Arlington, VA (Dayton Power and Light parent company) and was responsible for the construction of the first Battery Storage Facility in Ohio at the Tait site in Moraine, Ohio. Oversaw the site from startup until commissioning. Also became Plant Manager over this facility and its operation once it was completed.

Project was completed within 6 months from groundbreaking to full operational output to the electrical grid.

DISPLAY AND CONTROL SYSTEMS-LELAND (Vandalia, Ohio) 1997-1999

(Leland Aerospace Service Center)

The Leland Aerospace Service Center is an FAA approved aerospace service center repairing equipment such as generators, motors, starters, voltage regulators, and static inverters.

Manager, Leland Aerospace Service Center (6/97-9/99)

Managed a group of 25 employees, responsible for the testing, analyzing, repairing, overhauling, and certifying of military and FAA aerospace equipment. Also responsible for customer interface and communication.

Increased sales revenue of service department from $3 million dollars in 1997 to $4.8 million in 1998, and to $6.4 million in 1999(fiscal year 8/98 to 7/99). Department operated at an average of 54% profit.

Worked with all customers and potential customers. Visited numerous customers in order to secure more business for company.

Obtained FAA repairman certification and served as the chief inspector for all repaired items produced by the service group.

HOBART BROTHERS COMPANY (Troy, Ohio) 1992-1997

(Advanced Systems Group)

The Advanced Systems Group develops and manufactures advanced welding equipment used in orbital and high precision TIG and plasma welding. Manufacturing includes electrical power source, computer control technologies, and robotic applications.

Manufacturing and Materials Manager (2/96-2/97)

Managed 15 employees in the production, material control, shipping, receiving and purchasing departments of the Advanced Systems Group.

Reorganized department, eliminating two supervisor positions and three material coordinator positions. This reduced indirect costs by $145,000 per year.

Set up four distinct production areas for the different product lines. Moved inventory out of the stockroom to the production lines where it was maintained and controlled.

Organized the set-up of two new production lines for the group’s new standard products.

Oversaw the construction of the group’s first automated test system.

Operations Manager (6/92-2/96)

Responsible for engineering, production, material control, shipping, receiving and purchasing departments with combined budget of $1.5 million, and 25 employees.

Served as member of a company-wide Technology Council whose mission was to investigate and recommend new technologies and possible acquisition candidates.

Trained as a Quality Management Facilitator; trained 40 managers and supervisors in the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM).

Recommended and coordinated the capital equipment budget. Spent at or below budgeted amount for five consecutive years.

EG&G MOUND APPLIED TECHNOLOGIES (Miamisburg, Ohio) 1981-1992

A defense contractor whose main mission was to manufacture components for the nuclear weapons industry, in support of the Department of Energy (DOE). Possessed and maintained a DOE “Q” Security Clearance to work on classified and secret programs (no longer active).

Manager, Instrument and Process Automation (2/88-6/92)

Responsible for the design, development, implementation and support of computer automated and robotic systems. Supervised nine engineers and one technician.

Group designed and fabricated automated and robotic systems to eliminate hazardous operations for site personnel and to automate repetitive operations.

Managed a yearly budget of $5M.

Served on Department of Energy Task Force Committee for robotics and automation assessment of the Nuclear Weapons Complex.

Served on joint United States/United Kingdom SUBWOG Committee for technology exchange of robotics and automation technologies.

Product Engineer (7/83-2/88)

Responsible for production of small, precise, highly reliable components for the nuclear weapon stockpile, on very tight schedules and with very tight tolerances.

Had overall responsibility for four different product lines of weapon components which consisted of transducers, firesets, isolators, and detonators.

Some product lines were fabricated and assembled in a clean room environment.

Developed and maintained both classified and unclassified manuals and drawings in support of the manufacturing of components.

Worked very closely with Design Agency personnel at Sandia and Livermore Laboratories.

Received Department of Energy Award of Excellence for cost savings actions.

Test Engineer (7/81-7/83)

Responsible for testing of a wide variety of explosive components to be included in the U.S. Nuclear Weapons Arsenal.

Designed testing equipment for purposes of testing explosive components destructively.

Developed testing procedures and fixturing for testing of explosive components.

Wrote software for testing all components (Tektronix).
