Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one cause of deaths globally (WHO) with over 75% of such deaths occurring in low/middle-income countries including Nigeria. 52% of Nigerians are not aware of heart diseases and the associated risk factors that result in hypertension, stroke, heart attacks, etc; making deaths as well as disabilities caused by complications arising from chronic cardiac conditions to be on the rise thereby placing a burden on the nation.
