CFO/Corporate Controller (Belleville, Michigan)

Developed and implemented a fully integrated annually budget process that provides flexibility in decision making, monitoring of monthly results compared to budgeted results which allows for creating flexible budgets and reforecasts throughout the year.

Successfully negotiated various contracts, specifically raw material, with substantial savings to the company - well over $1 million dollars annually.

Manage all accounting functions on a daily basis including monthly financial statements and all cash management responsibilities for three operating companies. Additional responsibilities managing payroll and benefits.

Collaborate with the owners of the operating companies on all business matters, including but not limited to, personnel, financial, strategic planning, contract review, legal, taxes, mergers and acquisitions.

Chief Financial Officer/Controller (Warren, Michigan)

Developed and implemented a daily cash flow projection to allow the company to accurately manage its cash needs on a daily basis for four service-related operating companies.

Collaborated with our operations manager to manage the company’s largest customer General Motors which included daily/weekly calls regarding service issues at several plants including on-site visits at plants to resolve commercial issues.

Successfully managed the company relative to its exposure to General Motors during the bankruptcy including outsourced vendor accounts payable management during this same time.

Successfully negotiated a 33% increase in the Company’s line of credit facility. Successfully negotiated contracts that saved the company over $375,000 on an annual basis.

Managed all accounting functions on a daily basis including monthly financial statements and all cash management responsibilities for four operating companies. Developed and implemented a fully integrated annually planning and budget process that provided flexibility in making key management decisions which included identifying inherent issues within the salespersons commissions agreements.

Successfully negotiated a 50% increase in the Company’s line of credit facility based on the day-to-day management of the overall business operations. Restructured the salesperson commission structure to allow the company to grow profitably.

CATTLEMAN’S MEAT COMPANY Nov 2000–Feb 2005

Chief Financial Officer/Controller (Detroit, Michigan)

Developed and implemented a fully integrated annually planning and budget process that provided flexibility in decision making, monitoring of monthly results during the Mad Cow disease era.

Responsible for re-capitalization of company’s debt in 2002, which resulted in a substantial rate reduction and allowed the company to proceed with capital expenditure projects to reduce operating costs.

Successfully managed the strong growth of the business and working capital with nominal incremental credit required. This was accomplished by developing a detailed cash flow forecasting model that created the ability to automate the management of payables and receivables.

Responsible for $5 million expansion project from financing, design and project management.

Developed and implemented a fully integrated annually planning and budget process that provided flexibility in decision making, monitoring of monthly results and created the flexibility to modify reforecasts based on changing market conditions.

Successfully managed the strong growth of the business and working capital with nominal incremental credit required. This was accomplished through inventory control programs, implementation of an integrated cash flow forecasting process and careful management of payables and receivables.

Managed all accounting functions on a daily basis, monthly financial statements, product costing, and cash flow management of payables and receivables, inventory control, and strategic planning with the COO.

Responsible for re-capitalization of company’s debt in 1998, which resulted in a rate reduction and lower bank fees. Managed relationships with primary and subordinated lenders.

Collaborated with the owner and President regarding the successful sale of Stroh’s Ice Cream Company to Melody Farms. Key member of the post-closing transition team and other entities owned by Melody Farms and eventually controller of Melody Farms.

Additional responsibilities included administration of benefit plans, all personnel matters, special capital and renovation projects and information technology.

Fringe Benefit Funds Controller

Managed daily operations of accounting departments for numerous multi-employer funds. Analyzed areas of concern requested by the pension, vacation and health and welfare administer. Collaborated with the Vice-President regarding service-related issues with clients to resolve daily administrative service-related concerns from our clients and participants.

Implemented a new short-term investment policy for Funds nearly doubled short-term investment income, decreased Trust transfers and eliminated monthly bank service charges.

Implemented new internal control policies and procedures.
