WORK EXPERIENCE:

W DOHA HOTEL & RESIDENCES – QATAR

Position Held: Fire Safety Officer (October 2016 till now)

Roles & Responsibilities but not limited to:

Maintaining good liaison with Qatar Civil Defense, CID and Police Department.

Defining, updating and ensuring compliance with policies, systems and procedures related to fire & life safety (evacuation procedures, Ansul kitchen hood System, FM-200, fire-fighting system, fire alarm control panel etc.). Developing and practicing special emergency drills.

To quickly respond to any fire alarm, considering it a real one & act accordingly as per the Hotel fire contingency plan, followed by the investigation & incident reporting.

To give fire safety briefing to the long staying guests upon their arrival to familiarize them with the fire safety standards of the Hotel.

To ensure proper functioning of the fire alarm system by carrying out monthly testing of smoke detectors, heat detectors, MCP's, strobe lights, dampers, elevator recall system (Ground & 1st floor modules), lift/stair pressurization, gas shut off module, flow switch monitor, open/short loop trouble, temper switches etc.

To ensure weekly testing of the emergency diesel generators with manual/auto start mechanism, on & off load & make sure everything is up to the acceptable level.

Weekly churn testing of all the fire pumps to ensure they are precisely working on auto & manual mode.

Ensuring additional fire suppression equipment like FM-200, Ansul Kitchen fire suppression system etc., for special risks present therein, is properly maintained & that too works accordingly should there be a fire.

To carry out monthly inspection of the central battery systems for the emergency lighting & make sure each and every component, which includes master/slave inverters, batteries, chargers, change-over modules etc., is working as per the standard.

Ensuring monthly testing of the all the gas sensors & emergency shut off switches installed in the Hotel in sync with gas shut off mechanism, notification to the main fire alarm control panel.

Ensuring monthly inspection of all the portable first aid fire extinguishers & checking for any deterioration that may affect the operation of a fire extinguisher.

To carry out the quarterly testing & inspection of fire hydrants, hose boxes, first aid hose reels & fire brigade connections & make sure everything is documented.

Maintaining the fire safety documents, licenses, service reports etc. in a secured manner.

To ensure all means of egress & ingress are free from impediments & adequately illuminated at all time.

Following up with the vendor to get the kitchen hood exhaust & laundry ducts cleaned, as according to laid down standards.

Training of the Hotel staff so as to make them familiar with the firefighting techniques, evacuation procedures.
