SAI Global, February 2010 to April 2018

Head of Global Finance, Assurance Division (promoted July 2017) responsible for all global finance operations for 33 corporate entities, all wholly-owned subsidiaries of Australian public company (ASX) before it was acquired by Private Equity December 2016.

SAI Global’s Assurance Division is a $200 million professional services business.

Developed annual strategic plan and supporting budgets.

Prepared and presented monthly financial results in accordance with IFRS and updated forecast plus KPIs to Global Executive Committee and Balanced Scorecard to Regional Senior Leadership Team linking financial results to local management initiatives.

Increased EBITDA from 3.2% to 27.4% within 5 years;

Designed, developed and implemented enhanced on-line document management, new time & expense application and accounting software thru all subsidiaries;

Negotiated, conducted due diligence, closed and integrated acquisitions in Canada, US, Mexico and Costa Rica.

Upon restructure of global operations from Divisional to Regional, promoted to Regional Director of Finance, Americas with full responsibility for all Americas’ operations including SaaS and Publications Divisions in addition to previous responsibilities. Karabus Management Inc., Toronto, October 2007 to February 2010 Privately-held $16.0 million retail management consulting organization with entities in Canada and USA structured for tax minimization purposes utilizing Limited Partnership and family trusts. Improved operating margins leading to sale of business to PriceWaterhouse Coopers Canada at 150% of target sale price; negotiated and oversaw office relocation; led finance/accounting & IT teams; and managed integration of operation with PwC including system conversion.

Edelman Public Relations, Toronto, October 2000 to June 2006 Edelman is the largest privately-held public relations agency in the world.

Completed turnaround of finance department including 30% reduction in headcount and achieving five year compound annual growth in excess of 15%.

Implemented new accounting system.

Designed and implemented financial policies and procedures.

Toronto office awarded Edelman Office of the Year recognition for 2002 and 2003 based on financial results and operational quality.

News Canada – acquisition and financial turnaround to triple valuation upon sale 3 years later;

Integrated Healthcare Communications Inc. - acquisition and financial turnaround;

Savage Sloan Design – financial turnaround and merger with Bryan Mills & Associates;

McManus Elliott Investor Relations – feasibility analysis and wind-up; Kerbel Communications, Toronto, October 1990 – July 1995 Controller of a mid-size public relations agency responsible for all financial aspects of the business including financial statement and tax return preparation, budgeting, variance analysis, cash flow management, design and implementation of an employee profit sharing plan, design of a three-year career map/professional development training program for all staff in conjunction with a project and annual performance review process, provision of advice and counsel to owner/managers.
