Summary of responsibilities and duties:

●Assist Shift maintenance team in improving the availability of the plant equipment.

●Interpreting mechanical/hydraulic drawings.

●Read electrical circuit drawings.

●Perform plant inspections on a routine basis determined by maintenance plans.

●Perform SHERQ duties according to standards and objectives and adhere to the OHS Standards regarding isolation of electrical and mechanical systems as well as the permit to work system.

●Assist with Fault-find, testing and replacement of Siemens PLC Systems and parts including the following but not limited to Digital Input & output cards, Analogue input and output cards, PSU, Interface Modules, CPU’s, Siwarex weighing modules and counter cards.

●Diagnose faults and repairs on overhead cranes including control drive systems.

●Assist technical team during plant shutdowns and modifications.

●Perform calibrations on specialised electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical equipment including radio-active measurement devices.

●Breakdown and preventative maintenance of electrical, mechanical, hydraulics and process instrumentation equipment: Cylinders, motors, pumps, valves, valve positioners, MCC's, and calibrations.

●Draft daily shift reports and notifications on the SAP system.

●Perform preventative maintenance and breakdown repair work on all Lubrication systems including pumps, changeover valves, grease lines and end of line switches.

●Support production staff with compilations of WCM (World-class manufacturing) OPL’s and Kaizens and implementation thereof.

●Assist senior millwrights with isolations and de-isolations of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic media, LPG, DR, Nitrogen, Argon and Oxygen gas lines during breakdowns and planned shut-downs.

●Perform repair work and maintenance on gas lines, valves, thermocouples and ratio controllers of Tundish and SEN burners and driers running on DR and LPG Gas.

●Maintenance and repair work on a 183m long Roller Hearth Furnace with 182 gas burners with safety systems, 183 water-cooled rolls each driven by independent drives.

●Replacing and testing and servicing of pneumatic equipment: Directional control valves, exhausters and Pressure switches.

●Diagnose faults and repairs on VSD’s and VFD’s of various machinery but not limited to overhead cranes, combustion fans, steam exhaust fans, ID fans, conveyer systems, pendulum shear.

●Maintenance and repair work on all cooling systems including emergency cooling systems (Dump tanks) which include pumps, valves, flow meters, pressure transducers, strainers, filters, heat exchangers, chillers.

●Testing performance of water pumps.

●Basic lifting skills.

●Basic Gas and ARC welding skills.
