Research Experience
Research Assistant, Advancing Canadian Wastewater Assets (ACWA) (May 2019 – August 2019)
• Conducted monthly lake sampling for nutrient levels for 17 lakes across Alberta.
• Measured the following water quality parameters via. water samples collected from the lakes. o Chemical parameters: TP, TN, SRP, and Chlorophyll A. o Physical parameters: TSS, Turbidity, Secchi depth (+ total depth), illuminance. o Biological parameter: Zooplankton counts.
• Assisted in stream maintenance for the integrity of 12 experimental streams located in Pine Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Student Researcher, University of Calgary (September 2018 – December 2018)
• Assessed the effects of urban runoff on the water quality and benthic macroinvertebrate communities downstream of the Elbow River.
• Assigned roles on the field based on CABIN’s biomonitoring protocol for collecting field data. Roles included kicknet sampling a riffle with a triangular metal frame.
• Measured water samples collected from the Elbow River for water quality and biodiversity parameters.
• Analyzed site data using the RCA model. Ordination plots were generated to visualize the deviation of a site from reference condition.
