My experience in Family Medicine and OB
At the present time, I’m a traveler physician doing locums in emergency medicine, I been doing emergency medicine since I finished my internships in 2005 and after my specialty. I finished my Family Medicine Resendency in 2010 and became an Attending Physician for Bella Vista Family Residency Program, Bella Vista Hospital, and Bella Vista Family Medicine Center (Mayagüez, Puerto Rico). At the end of 2010, our program director left the residency that was on probation and went to another Hospital, I was the only Family Medicine Board Certified. I had the opportunity to take over for the first 4 months, until the arrival of our new program director to our institution, I was very grateful for maintaining the task with all of our 18 residents and 6 interns. I became an associate director of the program in the same year and we all worked very hard with the residents that year that our program became one the top in the nation passing their entraining exams in 2011 and been on the top of the nation since then, we were able to make all the corrections and was able to get our program out of probation with the help of my college Program Director Dr. Luis Vega. We had full satisfaction to have our program in one of the top in the nation passing their Family Medicine entraining and boards. I have always been involved in missionary work during my years of medical school at Montemorelos, Mexico, by helping the people of a small village nearby in preventive medicine, Family Medicine and they use to call me to do their deliveries because they did not have any transportation or money to go to the hospital. These situations that were far from my typical clinical setting helped me gain experience and taught me to think outside of the norm and continue the need to prepare my self in Family Medicine Ob. Later I moved to California and completed a degree in Respiratory Therapy, which opened many doors for me in Academia. 26 years ago I had the opportunity to go to Puerto Rico as a missionary to open an associate program in Respiratory Therapy at Antillean Adventist University with the satisfaction of having 100% on passing rate on their boards. After six productive years, I was asked by Loma Linda University to move to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to help maintain a Respiratory Therapy program opens and teach at Prince Sultan Cardiac Center where Loma Linda uses to trained Saudi’s in pediatrics and adult open-heart surgeries. After two years of service as an educator assistant professor. I returned to Loma Linda University Medical Center to work in PICU & NICU and was actively involved in high-risk deliveries and postsurgical care in open-heart surgery in children and infants. I later returned to Mayaguez to pursue my medical training and my Family Medicine training that always been my passion. During my Family Medicine residency, I was constantly involved in Ob deliveries and C-sections, especially high-risk deliveries that I have always been involved in because of my background and training at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. Because of my hard work, educational background and qualifications I was given the opportunity to become an Attending physician and associate director after finishing my residency and passing my Family Medicine boards in 2010. Page 9
In 2011 after hard dedicated work with our Family Medical Director and my self along with two other Family Medicine attending’s, our Bella Vista Hospital Family Medicine Program passed full accreditation for the next ten years. In 2016 when our program in Family Medicine was more stable, I decided to continue my education and prepare myself to provide a better service to our patients from all socioeconomic backgrounds especially in the mission field. I did volunteer work at Sheer Memorial Hospital in Banepa, Nepal training in the staff in Family Medicine, ER, PALS, ACLS and NRP. And witnessed first-hand their need for a trained Obstetrician to help to train others in the Mission field and I believe I can be a great asset in this field, with the help of Allah.
My goals after completing a fellowship in Obstetrics it always ben my passion to go back to the mission field to help in the community on their need, to do what originally started my desire and my passion in Family Medicine OB, helping communities in their need of trained professionals to handle their care and deliveries and including high-risk deliveries. I can also use my acquired skills to prepare future Family Medicine Physician. But I love teaching and my ambition is to create leaders and well prepare Family Medicine Physician for the future, like my self and want to have the opportunity to continue guiding young people to be the best in their profession and be leaders in the Specialty of Family Medicine with their best of their abilities and be number one in the nation.
Sincerely,
With all my affection and my passion that I have for Family Medicine, I attaching copy of all the my entraining exams since I started my residency until my last year when I left the program. From 2007 until 2016 as you can see the difference from when I was a resident and when I became associate Program Director for Family Medicine Program. I believe with all my experience that I acquired through the years that I can make your Family Medicine Program to become number one in your country with the help of Allah
