When Irina began her employment at Retina and Vitreous Consultants of Virgina, P.C., she had recently moved to the area after working in a hospital setting. Eye Associates of Winchester was Irina’s first job in Virginia after a four month hiatus when relocating from Lebanon, NH. It's only logical that at a person with a passion for ocular pathology from the age of eleven to progress in their career. Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center gave Irina that opportunity. Not only did she have no experience in Ophthalmology, but she was able to obtain her Ophthalmic Assistant certification within six months of employment. Irina is self-motivated and adapts easily under stress. She thinks on her feet and is able to move to numerous sub-specialties without hesitation. Trained initially in Neuro-ophthalmology, she was able to quickly learn other sub-specialty screening requirements such as corneal disease, uveitis, retinal pathology, refractive surgery, cataract care, oculoplastics and pediatric ophthalmology. Being well versed makes her the ideal technician as she has a great ability to multitask throughout her day.
