Associate Research Scientist Femeris – MDL LLC, Hamilton NJ May 2016 – Current Working with senior scientists and other team members to design and execute experiments to develop molecular based technology for the detection and treatment of obstetric and gynecologic infectious diseases, antibiotic resistant bacterial infections, and assay design for drug discovery process. Specifically -

● Detect multiple pathogens as well as certain drug resistance profiles from a single swab by various sub types of PCR testing.

● Expression and Purification of recombinant proteins with different affinity tags

● Provide scaled up purification of lead molecules for stability studies

● Design, validate and execute drug target assays, cell based assays and MIC assays

● Design and set up experiments for antimicrobial resistance emphasizing on cell wall biosynthesis inhibitors

● qPCR assay design and validation based on CLSI guidelines

● Perform gene and recombinant DNA cloning, including preparation of plasmid/chromosomal DNA, analysis of recombinant plasmids, quantitation of DNA, confirmation of successful cloning of functional domains using ClustalOmega, ExPASy, NCBI BLAST;restriction endonuclease digestion; archiving the strains

● Preparation of liquid and plate media, running and evaluation of SDS-PAGE as well as agarose gels, genomic PCR, Real Time PCR, cloning full length genes by PCR, site directed mutagenesis, sub cloning to expression vectors

● Maintain lab book with records and data, collection and preparation of data for analysis, analyze and interpret using Excel and GraphPad; present results data to the director and senior scientists
