Description: The New York Life Insurance project is an AMS project, involving multiple applications, which have to be maintained and supported by the IBM team. The scope of the project includes maintenance of the applications, handling enhancements and new functionalities to the existing applications, production support which includes health check of daily cycle runs, weekly cycle runs and monthly cycle runs, handling customer queries and service requests.

Responsibilities :

I am primarily into the Generalized Disbursement System (GDS) and Management Information Reporting System (MIRS). The GDS application handles the Check printing and EFT processing for NYL and is one of the most critical applications as it disburses more than $15 billion for New York Life’s pensions, payroll, loans, surrenders and dividends departments . It handles more than 1000 checks and an equal amount of Electronic funds transfers daily Criticality of this application makes its 24x7 availability an imperative. MIRS handles the details of various transactions and other details involved in the insurance business of NYL. Both the applications are primarily based on Cobol, DB2 and CICS.

As an Onsite SPOC responsible for -

Holding Daily Scrum and Backlog grooming.

Creating User Stories, Product Backlog management and Prioritizing User Stories in Rally.

Involved in Agile Methodology and Sprints.
