SKILLS AND DUTIES:

To assisting clients that are affected by issue such as neglect, domesticviolence, mental health, family health, sexual health and parental substance abuse.

Supervised to residents and heart of care/support provided.

Maintain choice, privacy, dignity and independence of residents.

Help to make sure those residents' dietary needs are met to residents' personal hygiene.

Provide personal care that is within the provincial scope of practice for a Personal Support Worker; duties may include skin care, hair care, mouth care, bathing, bowel and bladder care, positioning and movement, exercise, basic wound care, feeding including special diets, and assistance with oxygen administration and medication reminder.

Work under the supervision of a Nurse in charge, Long term care provide

Establish a relationship with all residents, Listen and talk with them to encourage mental stimulation.

Liaise with other staff, report and document to relevant issues

To provided appropriate support to the residents in maintaining their own living areas.

Ensure the environment is maintained to a high standard.

Arranged transportation for them, encouraged for daily tasks or activities.

Report faults and hazards.

Ability to give full attention to what social service clients are saying, understand the points being made, ask questions and not interrupt inappropriately.

Awareness of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do.

Comfortable using a computer for various tasks.

Comfortable presenting to an audience and doing public speaking

Ability to stay calm and empathize with clients when they are upset.

Provide supportive assistance to ensure the physical, emotional and social well-being of participants.

Provide supervision of participants while participating in community and/or in-centre activities.

Transport participants to community activities.

Maintain participant documentation according to agency standards including completion of Incident Reports, contact records and file recordings, and contributing to and reviewing person-centred plans to ensure goals are being met.

Maintain participant records including attendance, goals and communication books with families and caregivers.

Provide personal care service according to directions on the established care plan or assignment sheet, and ensure that, on an on-going basis, the emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent.

Perform specialized, client specific procedures for which recognized training and current competency can be demonstrated.

Observe and document client conditions according to company standards; report unusual events or changes in the client’s condition to the immediate Supervisor or to the Office.
