1995-2001 Port Labor - I performed various jobs duties.
2001-2002 - Raw Material Attendant
2002 Transferred to Defense Logistics Agency as a Raw Material Attendant - Job Duty was to operate two conveyor belts for Defense Logistics Agency bauxite to be transported to Sherwin’s Storage Building, to operate Power Screen, in order to clean generic Bauxite Piles.
While working at the Defense Logistics Agency stock piles, I performed duties beyond my job title as needed. I managed all DLA Reports and weight tickets. I managed and scheduled overtime for all Sherwin’s DLA employees. I ordered Safety Supplies for the DLA AREA 1 and the Port. In addition, I learned how to operate all the Heavy Equipment, such as, 100 Ton Haul Trucks, Dump Trucks, Front End Loaders, Dozers, Maintainers, Water Trucks and assisted the Heavy Equipment Operators . I was responsible for ensuring that all the equipment was maintained by generating work orders and scheduling the repairs with outside contractors. Once the DLA Job was complete, I went back to the Port. On the Port, I worked on 90 Dock loading Vessels and Barges and assisted 5 Docks with unloading ships.
Port A Operator – I was promoted to the Continuous Ship Unloaders (Chicken’s). I operated the Continuous Ship Unloaders for approximately two years until they were replaced with new E-Cranes. I then went back to 90 Dock as a Port B Operator and was promoted to a Port B Operator Team Resource.
Port B Operator Team Resource –I monitored the equipment in the area to ensure proper operation, identified and documented the equipment issues for work orders. Communicated maintenance, operational and EH & S issues with supervisors to ensure the SCORE process was used effectively. Environmental compliance monitoring using visual opacity certification skill to perform Visible Emissions Method 9 reading. As well as, performing and auditing the isolation tagging and cleaning of equipment prior to craft work being performed. My job also required me to, monitor and document the inboard and outboard shipments of alumina, bauxite and caustic. While also, operating the loading tower and belt system to load alumina onto Vessels, Barges and Cargo Ships. And operating and maintaining belt systems that transfer bauxite from the ship to the storage building and maintaining the ship docks. In addition to all of this, I was also responsible for, assisting the SST as needed with Opex procedure creation and review for 90 Dock Area and review job scopes with contractors to ensure work is correctly perform in the area.
Operations Shift Supervisor/Shift Incident Commander( 2 Years)- I directly managed field operators and ensure compliance with company SOPs. Generating shift reports detailing daily test results, unit production and material usage were also in my job responsibilities that I perform daily. I monitored all production activities during each shift to assure plant wide optimal efficiency,quality and productivity. I proactively collected the necessary information to be able to trouble shoot problems, identify causes and initiate corrective action and verify the documentation for each shifts activities to assure smooth transition in each shift change. I prepared work orders including those for emergency work, complete lock out tag out sheets, write safe work permits, and analyze equipment failures with maintenance technicians. I was responsible for completing and maintaining required documentation and records per regulatory requirements ( e,g. MSAH PSM,etc, ),company safety and operational standards and procedures, I pressed participation of safe behavior observations initiatives and program/instruct/coach others in all area safety procedures. I participated on the Emergency Response Team to act promptly in case of emergencies and participated in the periodic emergency response drills and discussions. I develop operations routine work practices along with unit qualifications test for new hire operations, and implemented procedures plant wide. As the shift incident commander, I was in charge of permitting organizations to work together safely and effectively in order to bring about a favorable outcome to any emergency.
