To whom it may concern

VANESSA SAMPSON

Vanessa joined the SA Medical Association in August 1999 in a temporary position. It was clear that Vanessa was competent and in April 2000 she was offered and accepted a permanent position in which she still is. (I left the Association to take up permanent residence in the UK in February 2005) Vanessa’s post requires pro-active and re-active telesales, with customers who advertise in the SA Medical Journal (SAMJ) and the Continuing Medical Association (CME). She is able to use her natural sales ability to draw in an increased flow of advertising. The work also demands a high degree of attention to detail, including record keeping, proof reading and some accounting ability. The day-to-day operational handling and management of Recruitment Advertising or Professional Advertising is entirely Vanessa’s responsibility. This she handles both professionally and competently. She frequently manages to win over difficult customers and increase their advertising within the pages of the journals. The total revenues during the years grew well year–on–year, comfortably outstripping inflation.

Vanessa works well in a supportive and encouraging environment, where she can speak frankly with management. She is an utterly reliable person. In addition to her work she also volunteered to take on the unpaid additional responsibility of “Human Resources (HR) Representative” in Cape Town. working with some 24 local staff and management as well as the HR Manager in Pretoria. She performed this work confidentially and competently, defusing disputes and arbitrating between members on several occasions. She was an asset on panels when interviewing for new staff. I have no hesitation in recommending Vanessa for a similar post or any that can draw on her skills and benefit from her competency and friendly disposition. I would employ her again! I am easily contactable and would be happy to speak for Vanessa should I be called to do so. Peter Roberts

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

This serves as a reference for Vanessa Sampson.

In my capacity as the Assistant Accountant, I worked closely with Vanessa for + 2 years. Our work together entailed the setting up and monitoring of her department’s budget, which Vanessa was able to obtain. She also tended to the HR function of our staff. I found her of pleasant disposition and she handled her position efficiently. Vanessa works well, both individually and in a team.

I have no hesitation recommending Vanessa for a similar post, as I am confident that she will put in the effort needed to fulfill her position.

Please feel free to contact me, should you wish for me to speak for Vanessa. Yours sincerely

THIS SERVES AS A REFERENCE FOR VANESSA SAMPSON

To Whom It May Concern:

I have had the pleasure of working with Vanessa Sampson for over 3 years. In my capacity as Project Manager we have worked on several projects related to her portfolio. Vanessa’s most outstanding quality is her personal communications ability and this is borne out by the positive and productive relationships she has formed with her clients who are extremely loyal to her, and internally in the company, where she is well liked by all.

The majority of Vanessa’s clients are overseas based and Vanessa has managed to establish and maintain these profitable accounts solely on her excellent telephone manner and administrative skills. Vanessa has always been able to get her clients to supply the required advertising material timeously, and then in her usual calm manner, complete the layout plan of her advertising pages with DTP designers who are always ready to accommodate any late requests from Vanessa.

Vanessa always remains in full control of her portfolio, from client liaison to managing the internal flow of her work to finally ensuring the accurate billing of clients. Vanessa has of late been eager to develop new skills and has been volunteering for additional responsibilities such as taking over as the HMPG web site manager on my departure.

I have no qualms about recommending Vanessa for any position in the publishing field which can draw on her experience and which requires all round communication skills and keen administrative qualities.

I can be contacted for confirmation of the contents of this letter. Your sincerely,

Bronwynne Schnider

To whom it may concern

It gives me great pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Vanessa Sampson. Vanessa (Vee as she is effectionately called) joined our team as a production assistant in December 2008, originally to support me in the production department managing the production processes of our publications and events. Vee immersed herself in the processes and organisation from day one. Initially assisting with the workflow deadlines, processing of creditor invoices, matching project numbers, cross referencing to budgets and was responsible for the capturing of all internal time and posting to correct project number. Over time, Vee has grown the position and moved completely into the finance and admin area of the business and until recently, was responsible for all aspects of this department, up to company payments. Vee's key areas were: debtor management, preparation of all invoices and statements; creditor management, processing all creditor invoices, reconciling accounts and cashbook payments. All accounts are processed in Pastel and finalised for our accounting company to prepare the monthly financial statements and batch payments for our managing director to release. Vee has a very special ability to communicate well with our debtors and has built up outstanding relationships with them over the years, thereby successfully reducing our debtors payments to a remarkable average of 22.4 days.

Besides her financial department commitments, Vee is accountable for much of the company admin and tasks include: completing tender documents, vendor documents; gathering and ensuring the safekeeping of all documentation required for the both the annual BEE audit for certification and annual skills development levy; ensuring company tax certicate of good standing is updated annually; management of all staff annual and sick leave, tasks for the directors such as mobile contract upgrades. Vee has also been part of our annual conference team, managing the delegate registration process and giving valuable hands on assistance at the event in Johannesburg. Vee isan exceptional hard worker, conscientiously aware of her deadlines but yet always willing to take on additional responsibility and assist a team member when needed. Vee has immense integrity and honesty and has often been a compassionate and supportive ear for staff members and their problems.

I can certainly recommend Vee for a similar position to any organisation without hesitation and wish her only the best for the future. I will personally miss her wonderful, supportive personality, sense of humour and kindness to the team. Please do not hesitate to contact me should any additional information be required. Yours sincerely
