JOB DISCRIPTION AS STAFF NURSE 1 IN HEMODIALYSIS UNIT

FROM December 2, 2008- May 31, 2013- AL HADA MILITARY HOSPITAL.

Dialysis Unit is equipped with most modern dialysis machine and there are 300 patients on regular dialysis

Carried out the responsibilities of the charge nurse to the whole unit as round all the rooms to solve any problem, pricking new fistula or graft, collecting the census, helping new staff nurse to learn the machines.

Participate in the Educational unit in Services by giving lecture as (HYPERKALEMIA,

Pre and post treatment assessment.

Treatment plan.

Cannulation of fistula and graft.

Central line accesses, helping in insertion and starting the dialysis session

initiate of treatment.

Monitoring during treatment.

Management of complication during treatment.

Administration of blood and blood products.

Terminate treatment by returning the blood to the patient.

On call duties for 24 hours.

King Abdul AZIZ from 2004-2008

King Abdul Aziz Specialist Hospital ICU equipped with 20 beds capacity that caters general cases.

Arrange for the new admission by informing attendant physician, preparing bed, monitor, ventilator and supplies to insert ETT tube or CVC insertion.

Assist the doctor in the Endo tracheal tube and Central Venous Catheter insertion.

Doing the Assignment for the staff nurse will come in the next shift.

Help the bed side nurse in the nursing care given to the patient (changing position, calculate the medication & IV fluid drops according to the formula. **Assigned to the High risk patient and perform the bed side care like suctioning, extract ABG from the arterial line, frequent measuring of Central venous pressure, giving bath, doing ECG and calculate the medication as doctor order given.

Following up the Central venous pressure, Arterial Pressure waves, Cardiac, Respiration and SPO2 waves on the monitor and informs doctor about any abnormalities.

Statement for the ventilator machine tube

Nursing care for central venous catheter like changing dressing, doing flushing KVO.

Disinfect the ventilator tube by formalin solution or Sidex solution as policy.

Intake and out put charting – glucose sliding and Glassco coma scale measurement.

Endorse soiled linen to the laundry and receive the clean one then count it.

inform the head nurse if any supplies are not available.

Discharge the patient to another area after recovery.

Giving total parental nutrition, intral feeding through the feeding pump and giving IV Infusion through infusion pump and giving the IV medication through the syringe pump.

using the standard precaution and other infection control policy for the isolated patient.

Medication charting and nursing documentation for any progress or deteriorating in the patient condition.
