Responsibilities

I worked as project manager for the definition of the target molecules portfolio using industrial know-how combined with the rational approach supported by scientific, IP risk and market analyses leading the selection of the most suitable microbial hosts and compounds. During the creation and implantation of the innovation strategy and work plans for defined product pipelines development supported in the in silico technology framework of the company combined with the latest advances in molecular biology; Also I have advised the company during the elaboration and submission of scientific proposals to the European Commission including SME instrument and others proposal under Horizon 2020 program.

Results:

I have achieved the creation of a new company s portfolio based on the selected molecules based on fine IP, Market, and economic feasibility analyses. Also, I have managed, created and implemented the company’s new Innovation and IPR strategies. This will allow the company to enter into a new business model as a product developer and IPR licenser. Finally, I have collaborated during the creation, submission and successful approval of 2 project proposals to the European Commission which will represent an approximated future income of 2 to 5 M Euro for the next 3 years.

Project management and leadership for the development of novel specialties for the industry of Oil & Gas, ensuring sustainability and margins contribution for company s future business; Developer of solutions, formulations, and prototypes that address customer s innovation briefings for Oil & Gas industry, including specialties for gas treatment, corrosion inhibition, and drilling. Supervision of product performance testing, and technical assistance to customers; also technical supervision of new researchers, laboratory technicians, and trainees.

Results:

I have achieved an above average on annual productivity targets with rates of 110 and 115 % in 2014 and 2015 respectively; I have delivered 3 new lines of chemical specialties which represent at least 15 new products, 2 Brazilian patents and 3 International patents, which will be reflected in an increase for future annual company income of approximately 10 M Euro.

I have successfully established other Bioelectrochemistry Research Group at the Research Center for Environmental Sciences and Biotechnology from the Catholic University of Pernambuco – Brazil; Also creating stronger scientific collaborations between Brazilian and international research groups. I have developed innovative research lines in bioelectrochemistry with the subsequent scientific and technological training of more than 10 professionals and students from multidisciplinary areas, which led the publication of more than 10 scientific communications in events and international indexed journals and the development of 3 technology products with pending registration; Also I have obtained official financing from the Brazilian government with an estimated value of 0.3 M Euros.

I have led and coordinated the research and projects related to the production of bioethanol of second and third generation; Including the project management and supervision of a multidisciplinary research team of 10 professionals and 2 Technicians; I have also intermediated the CETENE relationships with the sugar cane industry in Brazil and represented the institution before the Brazilian Bioethanol Network and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Brazil.

Results

I have achieved in a very short time the restructuration of the research group in biofuels which included the selection and recruitment of new specialists and researchers; Also obtained national and international certifications for Fermentation Laboratory at CETENE, by the creation of the anew Microbial Bank along with the Antibiotics Laboratory from the Federal University of Pernambuco, in accordance with international biosafety standards (ISO 22000 and the American Type Culture Collection - ATCC).

I have led the creation of the research line in Bioelectrochemistry at the institution, based in the Research and development in bioelectrosynthesis of molecules with applications in food & drugs; chemical specialties and bioelectrochemical systems applied to the quality control of biofuels; Also I have co-supervised 4 undergraduate and graduated alumni, and participate in national and international events in the field.

Results:

I developed innovative research lines in bioelectrochemistry, including the bioelectrosynthesis of novel products with application in food and drug industries and the development of a multi-enzyme biosensor for the quality control of biofuels. I trained scientific and technologically 2 professionals and 3 students from multidisciplinary areas; I have achieved the publication of more than 10 scientific articles in events and indexed journals.
