EXPERIENCE SABC AND FREELANCE

Started working at the SABC where I received training as sound engineer and worked on the 2 largest radio stations in the country as DJ and sound engineering. I was then transferred to television as a floor manager and worked on the biggest live television broadcasts at SABC including live news, breakfast television news, magazine programs and did live recordings with outside broadcast units. At the same time I started presenting a youth magazine program and did all my own voice overs. I qualified as an insert director for the biggest magazine programs on SABC. I started acting in international movies and qualified as 1st and 2nd AD on film sets. I gained lots of experience and became a top voice artist on radio dramas, commercials and television dubbing. I resigned at SABC and joined an Ad agency as radio and television commercial producer. I worked on many live sports broadcasts in OB vans as floor manager and camera man.

PRODUCER – DIRECTOR SANLAM TV STUDIOS

I moved to Cape Town and started working as executive producer – director of a magazine program for a corporate company. I was the presenter, voice artist, director, camera man, and editor of most of the inserts. It gave me 9 years of ENG camera work, on location sound engineering, DOP experience as I travelled throughout Africa filming. It gave me the most invaluable experience to communicate with people from all walks of live. I was the only cameraman – director allowed to film at the inauguration of Tabu Mbeki, where I interviewed people like Richard Branson and many world leaders. I also worked with Chris Tucker and Jermaine Jackson as camera man filming for a feature film they were producing. I directed thousands of voice artist and on camera actors for both television magazine programs and radio commercials which really shaped me as voice artist and actors director. I received an award for the best corporate video newsletter in South Africa for 6 consecutive years.

I also continued my broadcasting career on music radio and talk show radio and was involved in starting 4 radio stations in Cape Town, which included the marketing and sales B2B and creating a new client base.

I started my own production company in Cape Town. I continued to freelance in music and talk radio. The 2 biggest corporate retailers in South Africa contracted me to do all their in-house training, corporate communication, product launches, clothing ranges, new stock training, seminars and marketing videos and helped conceptualizing TV commercials. I continued my international acting career and I directed, edited, presented my own 26 episode cooking show on SABC sponsored by Mc Cain foods. It resulted in me becoming a bigger household name as the chef on the show, and we received nearly 500 000 hits per day on our website. In this time I also lectured at Allenby Campus in television production, camera work, directing. One of my corporate clients had a live weekly broadcast to 1500 branches via Senteck throughout Africa. I was directly credited in making one of my clients the best and friendliest corporate company in SA to work for, due to my creative input in producing all their corporate communication. I also produced for both God TV and TBN.

EDUCATION SABC

I had the privilege of doing most of my production training in-house at the SABC (this included my radio broadcasting – sound engineering) which is the national broadcaster in SA, like Rogers or Bell.. The rest was on job and practical experience learning from the best in the industry, my experience qualified me to become a lecturer at a college.

COMMUNICATION Due to my vast experience as actor, presenter, voice artist, DJ and competent director I have a God given talent to communicate with people of all walks of live, I am humble yet ambitious, focused and a very clear communicator.

LEADERSHIP I have throughout my over 25 years in the radio and television industry taken leadership on all productions and levels. I lead by example, I see my team as co-workers and equals in reaching our goals together, I always listen first then talk, and I have learned lots of my leadership skills by working with world leaders and learned that humbleness gets you far. People trust me quickly as I am real.
