SUBJECTS TAUGHT:

Technical English to first- year undergraduate students of engineering degree program.

Objective of the subject is to enhance the basic communication skills of the learners, to ensure the usage of digital media to supplement the study materials provided in the classroom and to inculcate the habit of reading, writing and speaking in English which shall help the learners to communicate effectively and efficiently. Evaluation of students is based on written examination and assignments examined by internal and external examiners.

Communication Skills to third –year undergraduate students of engineering degree program.

Objective of the subject is to enable the students to develop their communicative competence, to hone their soft skills and to equip them with employability skills which shall enhance the learners’ placement prospects

Evaluation of students is based on continuous analysis of learners’ progress through written examination and assignments.

Labs Handled:

English Communication Laboratory to impart communication and soft skills to students of all levels undertaking Engineering degree program.

The subject is a learner-centric one which requires minimum intervention from the teacher as it is practical-oriented. Audio-visual samples are provided to help students develop their listening, speaking, reading, writing and interpreting skills. Learners are encouraged to blog, tweet, text and email employing appropriate language and formal tone to acuminate their soft skills. Group discussions, role play, debate and mock interviews are conducted to train the students to perform well when interviewed personally or via telephonic conversation/ video conferencing. Evaluation of students is based on the above said activities apart from an online test.
