PROJECTS:

Stabilization of Black cotton soil using fly ash and lime in amaravathi region.

The black cotton soils possess low strength and undergo excessive volume changes, making their use in the constructions very difficult.

These samples have been identified for their swell potential and have been broadly grouped into three categories based on their degree of expansiveness and problematic nature.

The liquid limit decreases with the addition of fly ash. The results show a considerable decrease in the liquid limit up to 30%.

The plastic limit of the soil may increase due to flocculation owing to the presence of free lime in the fly ash.

The plasticity index is the size of the range of water contents where the soil exhibits plastic properties. The PI is the difference between the liquid limit and the plastic limit .

The shrinkage limit (SL) is the water content where further loss of moisture will not result in any more volume reduction.

Objective of project: Collecting samples and stabilizing by using liquid limit, plastic limit, shrinkage limit and plasticity index.
