You must inspect your vehicle on a daily basis to ensure it is in working condition, check that the cargo is loaded properly, and fill out and maintain logs of your trips and transactions to comply with federal or state laws.

Reports to the designated Transport Sergeant. Responsible for the custody, discipline, and transfer of inmates assigned to

the unit in compliance with Emerald Correctional Management and jail standards established by the Texas Commission

On Jail Standards.

Essential Functions:

Search for contraband and provide security.

Responsible for ensuring all necessary paperwork for the transfer of inmates/detainees is in order.

Properly prepare and maintain records, forms and reports, as appropriate.

Provide custody and security of inmates. Responsible for the transfer of inmates from one agency to another.

Shall fully inspect the transport vehicle. During inspections, the officer will account for all tools & equipment, inspect

the interior & exterior of the vehicle, search for any contraband and ensure that all cages are firmly attached and do

not pose a security risk and is safe to drive.

Read, review and properly apply information found in inmate records which is related to the inmates’ health and

safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information to other personnel.

Shall obey all applicable traffic laws, drive the posted speed limits and must wear safety belts. All drivers will drive

facility vehicles in a safe and defensive manner according to policy and procedures.

Transport officers are required to clean the vehicle at the end of the transport run and ensure the sanitation of the

transport vehicle, sink, toilet, lavatory and adequately maintain a log.

Perform specific duties if assigned to the following areas: property transportation, escort/roving, booking, mobile

patrol, main control, housing, administration.

Adhere to the Transport Post orders set forth by West Texas Detention Center.

Log in and out of the Keep on Trucking according as directed verify hours and the number of days worked.

Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when
