SGL is a global company with more than 31 high-performing production sites in Europe, North America, and Asia. The Morganton, NC plant manufactures Innovative specialty graphite solutions which are essential for complex processes in the chemical and petrochemical industries. Site Human Resources Manager

Successfully negotiated a four-year collective bargaining agreement between the International Chemical Workers' Union and SGL Morganton.

Provided Human Resources support for the Morganton, NC. graphite production plant and for the Strongsville, OH process technologies facility.

Responded to all senior staffing and management recruitment requirements for the Morganton and Strongsville plants.

Provided talent management resources including training, collaboration with local colleges, career fairs, etc...

Worked on an inter-plant team aimed at creating a management apprenticeship program in which new college graduates would be hired into a 2-year program which would develop their leadership skills and give them hands-on exposure to several aspects of our operations.

Facilitated the use of government grants to fund skills training for production workers and supervisors.

Assembled teams to identify and implement initiatives designed to improve working conditions at the Morganton site and to improve the overall employee work experience at SGL.

Engaged the local Chamber of Commerce in an effort to better market the Morganton plant's “brand” in the surrounding area. Thus improving the plant's name recognition and increasing the pool of qualified candidates interested in employment with SGL.

Defended charges brought to the National Labor Relations Board and to OSHA Madison Paper Company, Alsip, IL 2/2005 to 11/2009 Finnish coated paper giant, Myllykoski made a great investment to adapt green technology for use in Alsip. After purchasing the Alsip mill, Myllykoski established Madison Paper Company in 2000. It incorporated advanced processing and manufacturing equipment, and imported proven floatation de-inking technologies from its European mills. As a result, Madison Paper Co. produced more than 150,000 tons per year of high- quality, coated groundwood paper for print and specialty applications. By sourcing fiber in the urban forest, Madison Paper Co. diverted waste paper from landfills to produce coated groundwood paper with up to 100 percent recycled content. In its production processes, the Madison mill incorporated state-of-the-art de-inking technology that provides superior pulp for high-quality paper production.
