Provide counselling services to individuals, couples, and families of all age ranges and conduct assessments, provide advocacy, support, and information while working with them to obtain their goals for counselling.
• The theories and models of practice that I currently utilize are Strength-Based, Anti- Oppressive Practice, Trauma Informed Care, Crisis Intervention Model, Harm Reduction Model, Feminist Theory, and Systems Theory. I have also been working with CBT, DBT, and Narrative Therapy under the supervision of my Clinical Supervisor.
• My areas of Practice include: Mental Health (anxiety, depression, self harm, etc.), Addiction, trauma, incarceration, Residential School experiences, racism, poverty, homelessness, divorce/separation, blended families, physical, cognitive and learning disabilities, bullying, neglect, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, domestic and interpersonal violence, suicidal ideation, and grief and loss.
• I also conduct intakes and assessments for new clients and will at times, take walk-in clients in an emergent situation.
Housing Support Worker

Provided advocacy, support, and intervention for the residents of Homeward Bound and Oakdale. The role is extremely flexible in that specialized services are provided for each client based on their unique needs.
• Utilizes the Harm Reduction Model and provide Trauma-Informed Practice to those residing at the Homeward Bound and Oakdale Units.
• Developed and maintained positive relationships with clients to provide mental health and addiction services, counselling services, crisis intervention, goal setting, developing life skills, and a range of other services.
• Worked with individuals and families of diverse ethnicities and cultures and learned about a variety of Indigenous cultural practices, teachings, values and beliefs.
• Developed a new program along with management that provides housing, support, and life skill development to individuals who are 18 years of age and older and are no longer in care of the Ministry of Social Services.

Responded to various crisis situations, provided brief counselling sessions and emergency placements for youth. Responded to various crisis situations, which allowed me to learn how to provide advocacy and support for clients and the other workers, how to help in a crisis situation, and how to effectively communicate with individuals and families experiencing crises.

Worked alongside a Social Worker at LDAS and learned how to work with teachers, students, and other members of LDAS. Provided advocacy, support, and resources for the students who have various learning disabilities and were working toward obtaining their G.E.D.
• Provided advocacy and support for students and teachers with the intent of improving the students’ ability to attend school and complete their assigned work load.
• Acted as a mediator between student and teacher when there were disagreements or possible expulsions.
