As a developer coded programs as needed to augment the developmental staff. utilizing COBOL and DB2.

Duties included working with the user community to gather requirements in order to write the specifications for coding. Once the analysis was complete, I then was involved in coding programs, mostly making changes to existing programs, utilizing COBOL, JCL with DB2, VSAM and CICS. Many of the changes were to subroutines which were used by many other programs. This required careful analysis as to not overlook any programs that would need to be changed, while adhering to the business rules with little flexibility. I also wrote test plans and was involved in the testing and user acceptance process. I completed most of my projects ahead of schedule and was able to assist others on my team.

Client: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois

Developer and business analyst for the NPI changes that will replace the current PFIN id numbers with government mandated NPI ids.

Duties included coding in POWERBUILDER, SQL and COBOL as well as meetings with the clients to ascertain the best methodologies to achieve the objectives.

Performed unit, integration and system testing

Duties included developing programs in POWERBUILDER and SYBASE on the front end and developing in COBOL and DB2 on the back end. Responsible for gathering requirements and turning those requirements into developer’s specifications. I would then either pass those specifications to other developers or code programs myself. Responsible for testing all programs, both unit and system testing. Responsible for rapid turnaround for fixes to programs running in production. Worked closely with my supervisor in coordinating timelines and production scheduling.

Client: Metavante Corporation

As Project Leader/Coordinator for upgrading and revamping the current system. The system was migrated from POWERBUILDER 8.0 to version 10.0. Project plan outlined the requirements for revamping the existing system in an effort to improve performance and to standardize the look and feel of the application. This revamping effort improved performance by making navigation easier, stabilizing the system and will establish standards for future development. The backend end was coded using COBOL and DB2. The system uses a messaging protocol to access data from the host, to maintain a thin client for future considerations.

Responsible for the creation of high level and developers specifications in the use of creating new programs to replace existing programs as needed in a migration effort. The data center was moved from Downers Grove, Illinois to Omaha, Nebraska. Many legacy applications were migrated from the old legacy systems to SAP.

Duties included meeting with client management and staff to gather information used to create specifications for program development and system documentation.

Other duties included coding COBOL, DB2, IMS and CICS programs as necessary.

Provided QA assistance and responsible for the creation of test plans.

Technical consultant to the Services Team, responsible for 24 hour maintenances and rectification of coded programs for quick response in correcting any system anomalies experienced by the system during batch, online or overnight processing. Senior member of the Bradford Strategic Planning Committee. This committee was responsible for the assessment, procurement, migration and implementation of software and/or changes in technology.
