Roles and responsibilities

• Perform routine surveillance activities such as data collection, organization, analysis and dissemination of surveillance data, in coordination with the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit and Iloilo City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.

• Provides the weekly surveillance report reports and updates.

• Facilitates the immediate sending of Event-based Surveillance report

(ESR) to Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit with twenty-four hours of notification

• Assists the Iloilo City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit staff in sending the specimen for laboratory confirmation and examination.

• Following-up on the laboratory results of cases.

• Submits our monthly accomplishment report to the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit every month.

• Ensures the Disease Surveillance Reporting of all Disease Reporting Units

(DRUs) in Iloilo City.

• Utilizes and maintains Philippine Integrated Disease Surveillance and response and other computer/information systems implemented by the Department of Health.

• Submits documentations and PowerPoint presentations to Knowledge Management (KM) Unit as deemed necessary.

• Attends official meetings, conferences and seminars in connection with the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit activities and other Department of Health Regional Office VI activities.

• Perform other functions as directed by the Regional Office VI Director, Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit Head, Iloilo City Health Officer and Iloilo City Developmental Management Officer.

• Assists the Field Epidemiology Training Program fellows, Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit and Iloilo City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit in the conduct of outbreak investigation and special disease surveillance activities.

• Conducts initial field/hospital investigation of health events that need to be verified.

• Provide training and orientation to Disease Surveillance Coordinators and Disease Surveillance Advocates through PowerPoint Presentation and Hands-on encoding and analysis using the DOH surveillance system.

• Provide updates and feedback to the Local Government Unit and Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Department of Health.
