PROJECT HISTORY AND EXPERIENCE

I have served as EPC Project Manager / Superintendent / Construction Manager. The responsibilities included: construction management, QA/QC, logistics coordination, submittals, scheduling and cost tracking for these projects. Duties also included management, direction and supervision of contractors, subcontractors, engineers, consultants, technicians, suppliers and vendors, as well as coordination with operations for the following projects.

Adirondack Studios– Argyle, NY. 3/2019 – 11/19

I was performing as Project Manager for Adirondack Studios. This was a return to the entertainment industry for me. This facility produces scenery / props / creative facades for literally every theme park in the in the world. They are designer, technical design, constructers and installers in the theme park, theatre, concert, commercial industries. I worked on projects for Fort Edmonton Midway Experience and the Norwegian Encore Laser Tag. The projects, state of the arts are fantastic, creative and leading-edge formats in the entertainment industry.

Friesland Campina – Delhi, NY. 1/2015 – 11/2019

As EPC manager this facility pharma modernization-expansion project. The project was on hold due to engineering evaluations. The remaining civil construction scope was reestablished including a new design and schedule for completion and continued process systems installation. This included 6 suspended 12,000 gallons mixing pressure tanks, 2 bag dump mixing systems, 1 bulk bag dump system and a new automated filter press. This project also included a CIP system for application with the new facilities. All process is E-Hatch design while automating production This project cost $11,000,000. Additional projects following completion are a refurbishment of the wastewater treatment underground service effluent and affluent lines, including temporary pre-& post DAF systems, a chemical automated production dousing system / storage facility, production facility sanitary zoning upgrades, Oxidizer installation including designs of re-piping of and production scrubber upgrades, shutdown installation of new process blowers.

Gallo – Courtside Paso Robles. CA. 3/2014 – 10/2014

As Construction Manager responsible for construction and installation of the winery processing facility grape processing expansion. This included installing 2 grape presses with OSHA platforms, MCC panels to operate 9 presses, and upgrade to the existing Centrifuge system and MCC, Install 2 2.5 MBTU glycol boilers and 4,500 feet of stainless-steel glycol piping to 235 fermenting tanks. This project has been completed on schedule to the day and under budget by 5% at a cost of $4,005,000

Amy’s Kitchen Santa Rosa, CA. 5/2013 -11/2013

I completed the installation of a tortilla line fabrication facility to be utilized for producing tortillas in most Amy’s Kitchen frozen products. Construction included modifications to the existing floor structures, installation of new structural steel rooms, and installation of Clean Room Construction while the adjoining facility remains in food production. Following the building construction, assembly of the tortilla line with required utilities was completed permitting the startup of product testing and production. Mr. Miller was also involved with the planning of new product introduction process for Amy’s Kitchen. This $4,000,000 project met budget and schedule requirements.

Plains Exploration and Production Company Arroyo Grande, CA. 4/2010 - 5/2013

For 3 years I participated as the Project Manager (PXP title Construction Forman) CTR for civil and mechanical construction at the Arroyo Grande Site including demolition of existing production facilities and installation of $400,000,000 water reclamation and a new oilfield production facility while production continued to operate. This facility included civil construction for the entire site and installation of multiple tanks, 4 steam generators, 4 heater treaters and 2 vapor recovery systems. Now completed facility installation, the new well program is underway. This was a design / build project.

Plains Exploration and Production Company L.A. Basin, CA 1/2010 – 4/2010

As Project Manager (PXP title Construction Forman) for the Inglewood / L.A. Basin production fields, I managed all facility upgrades and new installations of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation. Projects varied from $50,000 to $1M.

Procter & Gamble Paper Manufacturing Modifications, Ventura, CA 9/2009 – 1/2010

The Procter & Gamble paper manufacturing facility produces paper towel and toilet paper products produced from pulp valued at $3,000,000 per day. Outages at this facility are rare and scheduled to the hour for real time observation and management. I managed union crews for both millwrights, pipefitters, masons during 4 outages as Construction Manager developing budgets, managing materials, crews and additional shift staff during these 24hour / 5-day outages. I created MS Project schedules and Excel budgets for satellite operations in Ventura California. Projects included refurbishment of the Cogen cooling tower and piping, modification and installation of 2 hydraulic spool pushers to automate the repetitive movement of two paper rolls 10’ diameter by 20’ long, install a new paper towel packaging line valued at $2,000,000.00. Completed on schedule and budget.

Kimberlina Solar Plant piping installation, Bakersfield, CA 1/2010 – 8/2010

Kimberlina Solar plant is a 5 MW thermal power plant developed by AREVA. This project consisted of construction and installation of the final 1,200-foot-long boiler towers. A compressed schedule and early completion were necessary to utilize the hottest portion of summer sunlight to test the maximum performance of the thermal solar plant. Responsible to developed and manage the schedule, budget, cost tracking, QA/QC and construction of the structural and piping components of this leading technology facility. This $1.5 million-dollar project now operates at full capacity.

VAFB - LN2 Piping system, Vandenberg, California 10/2009 - 1/2010

Vandenberg Air Force Base utilizes low pressure liquid nitrogen in large volumes to purge the rockets and launch site area prior to ignition of the engine fuel to create a safe inert environment. I managed the construction of all mechanical piping construction including offsite construction of S.S. piping, QA/QC program, and site installation. Duties also included development of the schedule and budget for the complete installation with a critical deadline for a scheduled rocket launch. This piping project contract value was approximately $650,000.00. Budget and schedule were 100% successful.

Platform Eureka, Return to Production (RTP), Beta Offshore Production Complex, California 9/2009

Pacific Energy Resources returned one offshore platform, Eureka, to production after being idle for nine years. It is now in operation with a capacity to produce up to 5,000 barrels of crude oil per day. I served as the onsite project manager. Responsibilities included construction management, QA/QC, logistics coordination, submittals, scheduling and cost tracking for this multimillion-dollar project, supervision of contractors, subcontractors, consultants, technicians, suppliers and vendors. I ultimately was responsible to stay within cost and following a strict schedule of the following projects: Eureka RTP Surge Vessel / Gas Knockout, Eureka RTP Shipping Pumps, Eureka RTP Vapor Recovery, Eureka RTP Safety Systems, Eureka RTP Piping Mods / Replacement, Eureka RTP Engineering Planning & Design, Eureka RTP Rig Refurbishment, Eureka RTP Pig Launchers / Receivers and Eureka RTP Leak Detection. The estimated project value was $2.9 million dollars. Platforms are now operating to capacity.

Mechanical Integrity Program (corrosion program), Beta Offshore Complex, California 2009-2010

Pacific Energy Resources Ltd required development and preparation of the “Platform Critical Piping Integrity Management Program” as part of Pacific Energy Resources commitment to minimize the potential for a piping system failure that could harm our environment. This program includes a comprehensive plan for implementation on Platform Elly, Ellen and Eureka.

Platform Elly, Rehab. & Return to Service, Beta Offshore Production Complex, CA 2006-2009

Pacific Energy Resources, LLC, operates three offshore platforms in the BETA Oilfield complex. In order to improve its efficiency and facilitate the shipment of fluids to Platform Elly for processing, rehabilitation and return to service was required. As Construction Manager for DPSI overseeing construction management locating, qualifying, and selecting ASME certified contractors; on-site supervision of contractor and coordination of daily construction activities with platform staff, the construction schedule, tracking of the project budget, and coordination of start-up and testing activities between contractors and platform personnel. Rehab and return to service equipment included: surge vessel (gas knockout), 35 Lb. scrubbers, Elly east and west crane repairs, “B dehydration train” system overhaul, Elly sump discharge line.

Lake Natoma Temporary Pumping and Bypass System, Folsom, California 8/2005 - 4/2006

U.S. Bureau of Reclamation required a temporary water bypass pumping station producing 93-acre feet per day of drinking water to the city of Folsom, California. I served as project engineer and on-site Construction Manager responsible for the design, installation and operation of the system. Other responsibilities included supervision of on-site crews, subcontractors, suppliers and for budgets, scheduling, environmental oversight, purchasing, and invoicing required for the project. The system was completed on time and operated an additional 4 months due to additional needs for Folsom City.

N. Nevada Correctional Center Renewable Energy Generating Plant, Carson City, NV. 6/2005

As site Project Manager for the installation of a wood fired biomass boiler with a 1,000-kilowatt steam generator. I was responsible for all on-site administrative activities, managing budgets, cost tracking, scheduling, purchasing, invoicing, inspection and quality control reporting required for this $2.3 million-dollar steam generator power plant project. This project was from foundation up, completed on schedule and budget.

The Hong Kong Spectacular (Motion Picture), China 1997

I was the Special Effects Engineer and Construction Manager responsible for designing, engineering, and construction of the floating centerpiece in Hong Kong Harbor celebrating the return of the city “Hong Kong” from British to Chinese rule. This “PEARL OF THE ORIENT” centerpiece required two barges to be joined together, an octagonal tower 80’ diameter x 120’ tall designed and assembled on site. A 100’ diameter ball was engineered, constructed and installed on the tower after the barge arrival in Hong Kong Harbor utilizing a dry dock crane. Engineering within the tower required it to contain three 40’ generators to power laser shows, light shows and 22 / 4,000 GPM computer-controlled water fountains. Design, engineering and construction of all the above components with the local labor and facilities in the technology deprived country of China for a year.

The Norma Terris Theatre Chester Connecticut

As Construction Manager / Superintendent, I modified and renovated a 1920’s knitting needle factory into a 200-seat proscenium theatre. This required demo of the second floor, renovating the entire brick building, building the stage and orchestra pit. This project moved on to installing lighting sound, high steel fly grid, sound systems and finish interiors for the grand opening.
