Louisiana State University

College of Engineering Dean’s Fellow 08/98–07/01

While completing the coursework for an M.S. degree, I conducted research in the area of stirred- tank reactor flow fields and heat transfer.

Course work included fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, mathematics, and Russian. I performed volunteer tutoring for high school students and judged science fairs.

My research included the study of flow fields within a stirred-tank reactor.

This required designing and fabricating the tank.

With the assistance of a post-doctorate researcher, I purchased and installed an appropriate computer-controlled motor for the impeller, a computer-controlled traversing system for one of the laser velocity-measurement systems, new software for an existing Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) system, and a new Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) system.
