My Career Mission:

I will do my best from here on out to keep your attention on this brief bit of explaining I have to do about myself. I'm 32 years old and until recently I had been the same contract shop company since the age of 18. With no machining experience, I took a position on a CNC mill and was expected to make money. I ran that mill along with others for successfully 8 yrs. Subsequently, I was then given the opportunity to run a large 5-axis multitasking machine. I would an opportunity to work my way up and hold a position in your shop where I am regularly depended upon to use my experience to program and manufacture close tolerance parts for big profit. I honestly feel like a piece of paper such as this does not do justice in explaining how much I love machining and the pride I take in perfecting my career. I would like an interview or even a test to further demonstrate what an asset my experience can be…because even the greatest resume simply cannot do that. Machining Experience:

Throughout my 13 years in a job shop, I was expected to run multiple machines and to do so efficiently to make the quoted time on a job, all while maintaining every tolerance on the blueprint. Depending on the feature tolerance, I would decide what machining operation to perform, program the control, setup the machine and tools, run and then inspect the first part while meeting ISO 9001 specifications. I also believe a successful CNC programmer must have actual machining experience. I have setup, programmed and ran many machines including Okuma, Mazak, OKK, Haas, Samsung, Toshiba and many others. I am also versatile and efficient in running many different style machine controls including Fanuc or brand specific languages. Along with programming and operation, I am fully capable of setting up any and all tools needed for the job. I am efficient in the machining difficult materials, including superalloys. I also consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to learn what I have so early in my career. I felt it imperative I learn the max tool chipload before tool failure on a wide variety of modern tooling. This tooling was all shorted or lengthened to unique lengths to maximize efficiency and I enjoyed every bit of this challenge. While I must always remain humble, I'm realizing that there is not too much I haven’t done on a manual or CNC machine. My only area for improvement is true 5-axis milling.

Programming Capabilities:

In my early years in the trade, I could program a complex part completely from scratch or using similar program in the machine program library. I then would edit all features and dimensions including required SFM and feeds to meet specification on the new part. Also, if there are features that can not be programmed using traditional methods, I use MasterCAM to create the necessary tool-paths. In these circumstances, the customers sent solid models in .stp format of the part. Machining Operations:

I feel I must include a list of machining operations I am capable of programming and performing. Businesses like to stick to their proven method of machining certain features and I feel I am versatile, accurate and efficient in them all.

• CNC lathe - cut jaws, drilling, turning, backturning, boring, threading, grooving, taper gaging (rough and finishing)

• CNC mill - drilling, gundrilling, circle/linear interpolating, boring, tapping, reaming, porting, threadmilling, trepanning (rough and finish)

• Grinding - Close tolerance/finish sizing, taper gaging While I have the ability to perform these operations on manual equipment, I was not required to run parts on them. More-so, I would often use manual machines to single point a thread on a tool arbor or use a Bridgeport to create a fixture for CNC use. Large Part and Basic Shop Sense:

Although I feel your eyes drifting past words much faster now, there is one last thing I must include only because I have seen with my own eyes what a lack of expertise in this area will create. I've personally seen a co-workers life flash before my eyes because of disrespect towards large piece manufacturing or haste. While I understand time is of the essence to make a profit, a successful worker must not cut corners here. Forgetting to tighten jaws on a slant-bed lathe leads to a dangerous situation for the operator.. Someone forgetting that on a vertical with a large part leads everyone's life around at great risk. Also, Im grateful for the heavy rigging and safety knowledge I acquired while training in the Union to be a welder. I have applied this constantly in my work today as a machinist to create a safer workplace for everyone. Other Achievements:

• OSHA 10 Hour Safety Certification

• Forklift Driver License

• ISO9001/ASM compliance in workplace

• LEAN Manufacturing Certification

• NYS Advanced Regents Diploma

• 2 years Training with Stick, MiG & Heli-Arc welding at Local 7 Boilermakers

• Rigging Certification

Conclusion:

Finally the end is near! Before your mind goes to other important tasks, I need to tell you that if you can give me the opportunity to come in for an interview that I will better be able to convey what is impossible from a computer monitor or sheet of paper. In an interview I could further elaborate what an asset my experience can be to your business. After almost 14 years in the trade, I am forcing myself to seek a better opportunity. This may not have been the best resume ever created because I’m not talented at explaining to others what I can do. I would rather show them. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
