Job Description as Electrical Technician Trainer

As part of the College’s technical team, to lead and provide support to the services provision within technical supporting teaching, research and commercial activities.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision

To prepare, maintain and demonstrate equipment and materials used in specific practical classes, experiments and student projects, and the environments in which they are used.

Assist academic staff as required with the development and testing of specific experiments used within practical classes and student projects.

Apply technical knowledge in support of teaching, student projects and research activity.

To assist with the preparation of teaching materials using computer packages, including the Internet.

Carry out maintenance and testing of specific equipment and materials within the Institute/Department/Group, but will also include audio visual aid equipment.

Ensure that the teaching and research areas are kept tidy and to apply the appropriate health and safety precautions in the workplace.

Assist with Preview and Open Days and other associated marketing events providing information to students.

To communicate with team members and liaise and network with relevant others, to ensure effective working relations

To solve problems that occur applying knowledge of subject area

Provide information to relevant stakeholders with regards to equipment and material loans.

The role of the Internal Verifier (IV) is to ensure that:

records of all sampling activities are monitored and maintained

interpretation of the requirements through standardisation activities and that these are documented

all staff carrying out delivery and assessment are familiar with and understand the qualification requirements

an appropriate referral policy is in place

an appropriate appeals procedure is in place

learner evidence is clearly organised and accessible to the Internal Verifier and Qualification Consultant

relevant records and pro formas are completed, maintained and retained for the purposes of internal and external verification along with the record of course delivery form.

The role of the Tutor/Assessor is to:

plan, manage, deliver and assess the qualification using the City and Guilds materials provided
