To

Dr. Christine Misquitta

Director, Strategy & Partnerships – PRiME

144 College Street

Toronto, ON - M5S 3M2

Subject: Application for the position of Research Administrator at PRiME Dear Dr. Christine Misquitta,

Our department at TERI did not have any prior expertise in Functional Metagenomics and for a young Master’s student this was going to be her research project. This student was me. Spirited and excited to learn something new and unchartered, I took on the challenge. With the help of German govt. funding – DAAD, I was able to elevate my research, collaborate with Dr. Kenneth Timmis (HZI) and eventually future grant opportunities for researchers at TERI. And therefore Dr. Christine I am thrilled to see an opening for Research Administrator, at PRiME. To be part of such an endeavor that also helped build mine is emotional and stimulating. I am currently pursuing my project management internship at KITE, UHN (No. 1 ranked Rehab Research Facility in the World - https://www.kite-uhn.com/). I am part of the ICAIR event team responsible for identifying and communicating with suitable sponsors/exhibitors for the conference. Additionally, my work also involves supporting the event logistics such as registration, event materials. I am also assisting the Research Operations team in preparing, editing, formatting and drafting documents required for the FIBRE project – a $45M collaborative CFI proposal. At SpiderOrb Pvt Ltd. I embraced new responsibilities, prominently website designing and content development. I had no idea how much I enjoyed this. It helped me discover my creative side and you cannot imagine how excited I was when I was asked to design the company’s website (https://www.spiderorb.com/). Moreover, as a member of the department’s communication strategy committee, I was involved in reach out to various stakeholders such as BPCL, ONGC, DBT, Satoil Hydro Norway etc at TERI. I have facilitated coordination and liaison activities of important national/international dignitaries during the premier Delhi Sustainable Development Summit. I have been awarded international travel grants and invited as guest speaker to represent my institute’s research globally. Over the past few months, I find myself often thinking of the most enjoyable moments and accomplishments that I am proud of. Interestingly, assisting graduate students with granting opportunities at TERI, seeing them awarded and helping them discover world-class science has been rewarding. Personally, I have learned not only specialized skills in the laboratory but have also been able to explore countries and make friends from every age group and differing perspectives. The enhanced enthusiasm and energy with which your office is working towards providing research support to PRiME researchers is unsurpassed. As a past fellow researcher, the importance of grant opportunities runs close to my heart and therefore I believe that my commitment towards helping PRiME researchers will be unwavering. Attached please find my resume for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you. I can be reached at 437-***-**** or by email at adb9e6@r.postjobfree.com. Thank you for your time and consideration. Yours truly

Simrita Cheema,
