My position as a pharmacy technician is to get a dr’s order which are to read sometimes, but you then type in the codes for what dr ordered for example t1tpibid is take one tablet by mouth two times daily finalize it make sure the correct insurances are being billed if there is a problem you call the insurance and you normally you get it resolved. Then you take the finished rx to the tech to count and fill what ever that particular medication is make sure the label matches the name of the patient and the medication. And pass it on to the pharmacist to check to make sure everything is properly prepared! I worked as a narcotic tech for many years you get the medications ready for Pyxis delivery you usually get a list for each area that has a Pyxis for medications to be filled,we most of the time you need a witness to fill narcotics.inventory is another area I have done,at the end of the day go into the computer and determine what medications you need or don’t need when you get your order in the next day you have to go through the order and make sure there are no odd things that came in through computer. I work the cash register machines to ring out and look up patients profiles if needed. Pharmacy Technician
