Comcast provides Telephone, Television and Internet services to Business and Residential customers in the US

The connections are managed through digital cables

The end customer will have a Cable Modem + EMTA in his premise

The Cable Modem (CM) is for Internet and TV and the EMTA is for telephone

Each CM is identified by a unique MAC address (normally written on the CM)

The CM and EMTA both have separate IP address.

This IP address is different from the IP address of the internet connection

Every customer has an account number and this account number gets associated with the MAC address of the CM he is allocated.

Once a customer disconnects his network, the CM is returned to the inventory and associated with another new customer.

There can be two types of customer accounts: CSG and DST. These 2 are associated with two billing systems

Customers in East Coast are generally linked to DST and those in west coast with CSG.

The CSG account number is 16 digits and DST is 13 digits.

Every account is associated with only one address
