Lead equity partner and acting CEO of the oldest manufacturing company in Minnesota, following the company’s reopening after a 3 year hiatus and partial liquidation.

As part of a team of 6 active partners, this role involved making difficult HR/personnel decisions involving family members and legacy employees.

Developed a comprehensive business plan covering all aspects for the business from Sourcing, Manufacturing, Product Development, Marketing, Sales and Distribution.

Rebuilt the financial oversight structure of the business, hired a new CFO and finance department. Hired all key Manufacturing, Marketing and Sales personnel.

Relaunched an e-commerce platform.

Created and instituted a comprehensive (first-time-ever) training program for new manufacturing employees and a transition strategy for retiring employees.

Negotiated multiple contracts with key accounts such as Target, Ralph Lauren, Amazon, Levi’s, Nordstrom along with several government contracts.

Initiated and negotiated key supply agreements with Australian Wool Innovations, New Zealand Wool Growers and numerous domestic wool sources.

Worked with the marketing team to develop one of the highest visibility “Heritage” brands in the USA. Articles were featured in NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, and Washington Post. TV features included CNN, CNBC, PBS, and Good Morning America.

Significantly improved product margins and ROI. Increased revenues by 3X in 14 months.

Neve Designs Inc. Boulder, CO

2004 –2014

(Knit Active-wear, Skiwear, Knit Fashion Apparel)

Self- financed the company during its early stages, providing consulting/advisory services. Became its CEO in 2005.

Created all business and accounting systems, enterprise software, identified and hired a full sales force and all the employees.

Negotiated business contracts, leases and created all trademark intellectual property. Created new sourcing contracts and agreements with Chinese, Italian and American knitting factories. Negotiated import export agreements.

Recruited two outside financial partners to purchase the company from the founder in 2008. Under new ownership, all factory contracts were renegotiated and the company entered into a 12 year partnership agreement with the US Ski and Snowboard Team. A long-term marketing agreement was launched with Woolmark, the preeminent global wool fiber marketing organization.

Within 6 years, Neve held the largest market share of any ski sweater company in the US. Expanded to Europe and opened a sales office and showroom in Zurich, Switzerland.

Sold Neve Designs to a large French based skiwear company in late 2014.

Created the team as a prototype for the first “clean” team in professional cycling. The Prime Alliance Cycling Team would go on to be the #1 ranked team in the US in 2002 and produce 2 World Champions, 6 Olympians, 1 Olympic Silver Medalist, 1 winner of a Grand Tour event and several Grand Tour stage champions.

Co-founded Prime Alliance Inc. (Original name was Consource Corporation) as a means to transform the sales and distribution infrastructure of the Petro-Chemical (thermoplastics) Industry

Founded in cooperation with Monsanto and Bayer Chemical Company, Prime Alliance was a completely new business model that was also embraced by General Electric, Borg Warner and Ashland Chemical.

Involved in every phase and every role of the business from its inception. Recruited, hired, and trained all employees up until 1998, then all management until 2004.

Acquired DC Wilson Company in 1994, bringing Prime Alliance into the industrial training business. Prime Alliance was able to utilize industrial training to access new sales opportunities in automotive and durable goods.

Acquired Trimax LLC in 2000, giving Prime Alliance additional service capabilities of product design, production tooling and end use specification control.

For over 20 years, Prime Alliance was on the leading edge of innovation and proactively driving responsible changes in the plastics industry.

Non Profit and Community Involvement:

National Parks of Lake Superior Foundation 2019 – Current Board Chairman, Executive

Board Chairman for this 501c3 organization that is chartered by the National Parks Foundation to provide financial support and strategic assistance to the five National Parks located on and around Lake Superior. Grand Portage National Monument in Minnesota, Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Wisconsin, Isle Royale National Park, Keweenaw National Historical Park and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore all in Michigan. Leading major gift development, strategic partnerships and public/private partnerships. Involved in all aspects of management oversight and board activities and development.

The Amana Project 2016- Current Executive Director

Founded the 501c3 organization independently of The Amana Society, to help create a long term vision for protecting, restoring and preserving this National Historic Site in Amana, Iowa. Also to create partnerships, collaborations, land trusts and conservation easements to preserve and enhance the 28,000 acres of row crop farming, timber, pasture and wetlands.

Healthlinks Clinic and Foundation, Boulder, CO 2004-2010 Board President

Served in the voluntary role as Board President and lead development officer for 7 years. Worked with the founder and Board of Directors to formulate strategy, partnerships. Community activation and fundraising for this multidisciplinary clinic offering prescriptive services to individuals with a cancer diagnosis. Helped create ongoing public/private partnerships.
