PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2016 – Present, GEOMODELLER / DEVELOPMENT GEOLOGIST, Reservoir Management Team, TouatGaz Onshore

Reservoir characterization and geomodelling activities:

-Building static models for reservoirs to utilize in FDP activities, projects and studies as one of the building blocks to make high-level business decisions. Define, frame and execute step by step GANTT charts with all studies/projects feeding the process towards building fit-for-purpose static models. Prepare scope of tasks for internal reservoir characterization studies and lead the team across multidisciplinary domains to deliver technically sound interpretations and clear recommendations within planned deadlines. Propose technical solutions to deliver reservoir modelling projects and agree with Asset Lead/Technical Center for the work quality and consistency with corporate SOPs or best-practices. Provide detailed reports and high quality presentations to represent team in terms of geological synthesis and modelling during peer-reviews in front of Shareholders.

-Development and maintenance of static reservoir models using Petrel, updating models with data from development wells and production as required to further optimise the development.

-Compile, organize and analyze complete geological, geophysical and petrophysical datasets and verify quality assurance of data integrity so that any data uncertainty is properly understood before introducing to modelling workflow. Good understanding of petrophysical and geophysical inputs to integrate into static model.

-Conduct structural modelling that simple enough to allow quick updates, at the same time, it is detailed enough to capture reservoir deformation characteristics: structure dipping, fault dip, vertical throw, fault network, reservoirs juxtapositions and minimum zig-zag faults. Continuously QC structural model with newly drilled wells honoring well placement targets by reviewing well markers/tops and correlation. Developed and implemented new structure modelling workflow that enhances well placement in a mature field with plethora of structure control points. Focal point for structure model in the reservoir management team

-Distribute multiple realizations of porosity and permeability properties with stochastic algorithms or conditioned to geological understanding that better capture lateral uncertainties between wells

-Creative and always stay abreast to seek and try new methodologies/innovations in field of integrated reservoir modelling and neural network. Designed unique modelling approach for facies distribution that captures vertical and lateral facies heterogeneity. Based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of the company, conducted a diagenesis study through thin-section description and identified diagenetic impact to depositional facies, later it was used to established link between geology and petrophysics to define static rock types. Correlate depositional facies between cored wells to understand and come up with conceptual depositional model.

-Run volumetric with multiple realizations with ranging input parameters such as FWL, porosity, structure surface to calculate GIIP (P10, P50 and P90). Continuously conduct blind tests to quantify uncertainty for structure and porosity models using the data from newly drilled wells

-Upscale or resample fine geological grid to coarse grid to start iterations with simulation and history match properties of a reservoir in dynamic modelling. Implemented corporate best-practices technique that calibrates permeability to dynamic permeability that doesn’t require multiplier during history match. Iterate the 3D model together with simulation reservoir engineer to achieve history match which captures conceptual flow mechanism in Petrel RE.

-Provide technical scope of work for geological studies, evaluate bidding third party contractors during tendering and award process. Review and monitor contractors work to make sure results are fit for our internal objectives and to ensure that vendors fulfill their obligations. Participate in selection of intervals for acquisition of geological data. Promote Safety First culture and ensure that HSE standards and procedures are followed.

2011 – 2016, OPERATIONS GEOLOGIST, Reservoir Management Team, TouatGaz Onshore

-Development phase of the Touat joint venture onshore gas field in Algeria. Supervise and coordinate all aspects of geological well site operations with the operators

-Coordinate and control geological, geophysical & petrophysical data collection for gas wells of all hydrocarbon resources.

-Good knowledge in all aspects of geophysics, seismic and well log interpretation, well completion and workover activities

-Preparation (well proposal) and follow-up of 18 new development wells

-Key contributor to provide geological support for ongoing pre-drill and post-drill operational activities

-As part of well planning, prepare geological data for upcoming wells such as structural map and cross-section, expected porosity and top predictions from static model. Quarterly prepare and conduct Well Planning sessions to Operations team to explain reservoir management expectations from proposed wells from all perspectives: reservoir dynamics, well placement, faults and pressure

-Supervise the Operations and Geology activities concerning preparation of comprehensive well programs for drilling activities and monitoring of all wells in course of drilling.

-Drilling and mud parameters monitoring & interpretation while drilling operations based of good practice knowledge, Wellsite Mud logging and interpretation of the formation evaluation data.
