The Objective of Analytics 2.0 NCOTS Project is to replace existing third-party applications for the purpose of enhanced BI and Analytics. Analyze on Enrolment, Claims, Medicaid, Medicare, Benefits Affected by the ICD conversion and HIPAA complaint security issues which also supports HEDIS Reporting. claim highway is a platform which can receive various type of claims and route in appropriate exits.

Project Description:

Scotia Bank currently uses two Moody’s Analytics software products – Moody’s Financial Analyst (MFA) and Moody’s Risk Advisor (MRA) to analyze the financial statements of non-retail borrowers and determine the bank’s internal risk ratings for those borrowers in order to achieve an “Advanced Internal Ratings Based (AIRB)” status. The MFA/MRA software product has been withdrawn from the market by Moody’s Analytics and it must be replaced with a newer version and the bank has decided to upgrade the existing MFA/MRA application to Risk Analyst in order to maintain the Bank’s Basel-compliant risk rating system. The Risk Analyst uses the Scotia banks standard defined terminology for the spreads and Rating Models named “Industry Model” like BNSCORP, BNSHIP, BNSCARIB, SBNSINT, etc. Moody’s RA will analyze customers’ financial statements and determine borrower risk ratings as a part of the credit origination and adjudication process in all of the Bank’s non-retail business lines.

The application is Enterprise Data Warehouse – CISCO Quality Assurance.

This involves end to end functional testing of data which is done on individual tracks (subject areas).Loading data directly from source systems ODS i.e. (maintained on ORACLE DBMS) and reporting directly from EDW2B is the approach used.

Informatica is used as the primary ETL tool with possible use of Teradata SQL.

Teradata environment is used to support Staging, Error, Work and 3NF data Warehouse.

Data is extracted from source into flat files and subsequently loaded into Teradata staging tables.

ETL Approach is followed for all data loading into Teradata. Data is extracted from source and loaded into Teradata staging tables, having the same structure as source tables, using Teradata utilities.

Informatica will be used for transformation moving data from staging to work tables.

Data is then transformed, restructured, filtered, etc. into the normalized tables.

Finally Reports are generated by the users by the Business views built on these Normalized tables.
