I enjoy working in a team environment and I am an experienced, motivated, proactive and forward thinking administrative professional who is looking for a new and exciting opportunity, specifically, the position you have available as a motivated and proactive legal assistant. I have proven to consistently provide exceptional client service and support and ensure all clients receive the highest level of service and respect. Although, I do not possess a Paralegal or Legal Administrative diploma, I do have fourteen years of hands-on experience researching legal acts and regulations in order to develop and provide regular updated information to local environmental, health and safety regulations and internal programs, projects and bi-laws. I have worked with The City of Red Deer legal department and teams in order to provide legal and binding development agreements between developers’, citizens, and The City of Red Deer ensuring fairness and equality for our clients and in providing updates to our transportation and underground service bi-laws ensuring they were in accordance with regulatory guidance and direction.

It is my hope that you are still reading my cover-letter in order to allow me an opportunity to show that I have the transferable skill set that you are requiring, despite my lack of specialized training. I retired early from the Department of National Defence, due to personal reasons, and I am currently looking to transition and pursue a new fulfilling career path upon my return back to my home in Nova Scotia. I have already made arrangements to leave Alberta April 1, 2020; however, I am able to relocate earlier if employment is secured.

Having worked within unionized, Federal and Municipal environments and working as a project manager I was responsible to ensure that all contractors, sub-contractors, and personnel were working within and in compliance with labour and employment law including Occupational Health and Safety, Department of Transportation, Transportation of Dangerous Goods; as well as other various construction and civil works regulations, acts, and standard operating procedures that were in place. I am known for being highly detailed, organized and having a strong analytical skill and a solution oriented mind-set.

Having worked as an administrative professional for over eighteen years I am able to provide you with exceptional skills in technology and I am proficient in all aspects of Microsoft Office and I posses a genuine interest in keeping up to date and aware of new and upcoming technologies. While working with L.F. Durand enterprises one of my responsibilities was to provide information and the availability of new technologies to our satellite internet and television customers with up to date satellite internet and television services, technology and information. In all of my positions I was responsible to adapt and quickly learn differing technologies and software products from environmental reporting software, human resource management, customer relationship management and I am able to easily learn and become adaptable to changing technologies. Enjoying every moment of the changes being undertaken. I just recently upgraded my mobile phone to Hawaii because it was a new 5 G technology.

I thrive in a demanding, high-paced team environment and I am flexible and quickly adaptable to changing priorities. In my previous positions I have proven to have exceptional communication skills and I am able to quickly relay and effectively provide summaries of technical, legal and complex information to management, colleagues, members of the general public. In my position with The City of Red Deer I was responsible to attend weekly development council meetings and provide clear technical advice and direction to council members and developers on developments occurring in The City of Red Deer. While working with The Department of National Defence I was responsible to provide education and advice to colleagues, management, personnel, contractors and the general public. I have also sat on three community focus groups which provided information to concerned local residents on environmental or potential project issues.
