Senior Process Engineer

LS Cables Tarboro produces power and energy cables. I was responsible for the overall operations of multiwire draw lines, bunchers, insulating line, 800 mm lines, SZ stranders and jacketing lines. These responsibilities included documenting procedures, training operators, purchasing parts and machinery and conducting monthly inventory, all while ensuring safety came first. I was able to reduce scrap by 50% initially in my area, and on average by approximately 40% in subsequent years. For the last four years I audited the plant monthly and made sure standards were upheld in order to comply with State and Federal environmental standards. Maintained CPR certification for eight years and taught other employees for four years.

Superior Essex Brownwood manufactures fiber optic cable. I was responsible for the overall operations of sheathing lines, tight buffering lines, coloring lines as well as ribbon lines. These responsibilities included documenting procedures, training operators, purchasing parts and machinery all while ensuring safety came first. I also produce trial cables for our corporate offices for qualification and validation.

Quality Assurance Manager

One Source Industries is a packaging and displays manufacturer. I was hired to implement a quality assurance system where none was in place. I implemented GMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) which allowed the company to attain an FDA registration for drugs and medical devices (CFR 21 for secondary packaging), FDA Volunteer Cosmetic Registration, Tennessee Board of Pharmacy as well as DEA certification. Daily responsibilities included insuring all calibration was complete, incoming inspection - using MLT-105E, in-process inspection and final inspection, completing daily audits and customer audits where applicable, provided daily direction and trained staff as required, wrote policy and procedures for the production lines as well as quality system, issued corrective action reports (CAR) and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans as required, wrote statistical process control (SPC) charts as required,

approved customer facilities when applicable, insured all safety and environment policy and procedures were met

2002 – 2005 Louisiana Pacific Specialty Products Holly Springs, MS

Quality Assurance Manager / Process Engineer

LP vinyl manufactured vinyl siding. I began as a process engineer where I worked on day-to-day issues as well as cost out projects and capital projects. During my first year we increased line output by 30%. I reduced warranty costs by $500K per year. Our team also reduced product variability on our Rockwell siding that reduced customer complaints by 80+%. I received a silver and bronze award from LP for that work.

I held the Quality Managers position for approximately 2 years. I managed 10 employees within the department, maintained standard operating procedures & quality manuals, conducted internal audits, maintained all third-party building code specifications (ASTM, ICC, BOSA) and ensured all corporate policies were in place and followed. Additionally, I ensured all equipment and tooling was calibrated, maintained monthly records for each line, developed new testing procedures when applicable and trained employees on quality test procedures and specifications. I maintained environmental and safety standards within the department, provided monthly safety training meetings to ensure zero recordable accidents and conducted annual review with employees.

1985 - 2002 Pirelli Cables & Systems Lexington SC, USA

Process Engineer

Pirelli Cables manufactured fiber optic telecommunication cables. I was responsible for PVC, MDPE, HDPE extrusion jacketing, buffering lines and UV curing machinery for Premises and OSP cables. My duties included day-to-day hands on problem solving, commissioning new equipment and machinery, upgrading existing equipment and machinery, written process documentation (standard operating procedures) order and spec out tooling for the machines, input of recipes / machine instructions into PLC's, as well as trial new compounds and designs of fiber optic cable to meet GR-20 and GR-409 specifications. Additionally, I trained operators on all aspects of machinery. I have supervised installation of machinery and assisted in plant layouts. I supervised 8 manufacturing technicians and assigned daily/monthly projects and set up a clean room environment for UV process. Trained QC & QA inspectors on product specifications.

Additional projects with Pirelli include: Capacity / Efficiency; Cost Reduction; Scrap Reduction; Safety; ISO 9001; Plant Expansion. Commissioned coloring line in Brazil and travelled to Finland to oversee purchase of an SZ stranding line.
