Work in Renal Dialysis Unit is interesting, multifaceted, focused for the patients with various diagnosis - acute and chronic, education of the patients and their family, assistance with insertion temporary or permanent catheters and operation with the technical devices. Ratio of the staff to patients is 1:2, 1:1. In our dialysis unit, I perform classic haemodialysis (HD), SLED, ISO UF, peritoneal dialysis (PD). I am taking vital signs, do measurement of weight pre and post HD, assessment of overall condition of the patient, iv access - AVF, AVG, TC, PC and others. According the vascular access I am connecting the patients to the dialysis machine. I do puncture AVF, AVG with sharp needles, connecting via temporal or permanent catheter using contactless method. Change dressing, cleaning using aseptically technique and apply sterile dressing to the surroundings of PC. After connection, I set the parameters on the device as per Dr. order or currently patient condition. During dialysis I do monitoring the overall condition of the patient, identify undesired treatment effects, prevent and solve them. I measure the blood pressure, pulse, body temperature, ECG, I am administering medications intravenously, muscularly, subcutaneously, infusions, transfusions, albumin, plasma, humidified oxygen, I do suction via tracheostomy or upper respiratory tract as patients needed, do CPR. I perform hygienic care. After the termination of dialysis, I disconnect the patient according to the vascular access, I remove the sets and do disinfection on the device, and prepare machine and place for next treatment. I am recording the information about treatment in the patient’s file in the computer. I educate patients and their relatives concerning maintaining of a diet and drinking regime, and care of AV fistula, AVG or permanent catheter at home. I prepare the instruments, the patient for procedure and I am doing assistance to doctor during insertion of temporary catheter or permanent catheter. I do sampling of blood culture via TC, PC for the patients in hospital units as needed. I am replenish the missing material, checking the drugs expiration, make sure the medical devices and instruments are sterilized and in good work condition.
