Laboratory Analyst II

June 2018 to Present

1. Primary duty is performing BOD analysis for 1.5 years. Currently performing Nitrate/Nitrite and Ammonia analysis on a LaChat.

2. Prior to analysis, the analyst must: assess proper dilution set for each sample, check pH and adjust as needed, check for chlorine and treat as needed, bring sample to proper temperature, and log sample out of LIMS

3. Pour the sample according to the determined dilution, fill with treated dilution water and read and record DO.

4. Analyst must prepare reagents, dilution water, keep track of hold times and due dates, as well as calibrate all equipment.

5. The primary analyst is also responsible for ordering supplies, correcting issues with sample custody and project managers, chemical inventory management, and the basic day to day concerns of the BOD department.

6. After the 5 day incubation, analyst reads a final DO on samples, verifies QC is correct and completes and uploads result paperwork into LIMS system. Lab Analyst

September 2016 to June 2018

1. Sept 2016-Aug-2017 Log in any incoming samples to the LIMS system for analysis according to COC and label appropriate bottles with sample numbers. Some samples had to be checked for appropriate pH, container, etc.

2. Aug 2017 - Jun- 2018 Prep and analyze several different parameter on samples using 3 LaChat instruments.

3. Analysis included: Sulfates, ammonia, alkalinity, cr6+, phosphates, and occasionally TKN, and phenol.

4. Analysist was responsible for all sample prep, distillation, and all reagent preparation. 5. All QC and calibration was manually created and calculated by the analyst. 6. Lachat analysts were also responsible on a rotating schedule for micro analysis. 7. Micro analysis included mostly absence/prescience of ecology, as well as fecal, hpc and all reagent and agar/ plate preparation for these analysis.
