Details of Project:

Thrivent Independent is a sales and marketing organization focused on the development of third-party distribution relationships and support of independent financial professionals. Currently, Thrivent Independent uses wmA system for administering its MYGA (Multi-Year Guaranteed Annuity) product and GIAS system for its newer Life and Annuity products.

Responsibilities:

Tech Lead for the project from Sep’16 till date at Appleton, WI. Implemented the policy admin system wmA on Windows environment using Micro Focus tool set.

Setup and launched MYGA which included configuring the product, setup batch cycles and reports delivery to business within a swift timeframe on wmA. Performed initial setup for GIAS and downstream interfaces in Q1 2018. Launched DI (Disability Insurance), Term, UL and VUL products on GIAS.

Developed Cobol modules and Spring Boot Microservices to transfer data to various interface systems such as Commissions, Policy Pages, Statements, Tax, Moneyout, Customer Information File and DTCC from wmA and GIAS respectively.

High-level customizations were done to admin systems to incorporate the new functionalities of Thrivent’s products with high quality deliverables and exceeding Thrivent’s expectations, moreover, within budget and timeline with zero post installation defects.

Robust testing was performed during implementation and in different environments (Development Testing, System Testing and Integration Testing). All the associated downstream applications were also the part of testing validations.

Project: AdVantage & TradVantage Production Support

Details of Project:

MassMutual uses wmA system for its two policy base products – Universal Life and Whole Life Policy Administration Systems known as AdVantage and TradVantage applications respectively. wmA (Wealth Management Accelerator) is insurance based proprietary software developed by CSC using various technologies including COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL and DB2 on an IBM mainframes platform. The scope of project is to provide maintenance and enhancement support for both systems. Regular business defects are taken care of by the team. The team is also involved in supporting daily nightly production batch cycle. The tasks involved in production support activity are monitoring the batch jobs, and checking them for any abends, analyzing, resolving and fixing them.

Responsibilities:

Onsite Coordinator for the project from Jun’12 to Jan’14 at Springfield, MA.

Working on enhancement and support of the Client’s two policy base VANTAGE & wmA – Whole Life & Universal Life Policy Administration Systems and engaged in onsite/offshore model.

Presenting monthly Dashboard report to Client for the two systems supported.

Details of Project:

XML Gateway is a highly customizable interface application developed by CSC using various technologies including COBOL, CICS, VSAM and DB2 on an IBM mainframes platform. This enables XML-based data exchange from/to any system using a powerful runtime engine that supports complex translations and transformations.

The scope of project included developing and enhancing the Cobol interface modules between Vantage backend and XML frontend using the Service Manager. The base XML Gateway package was customized and deployed after carefully analyzing two Vantage based policy admin applications at LFG – Fusion and Concord.

Responsibilities:

Initial setup for new project. Configuration of XMLG and csA environment.

Guiding team through various phases of the Software Development Life Cycle like Requirement, Analysis, Design, Programming, Testing, Implementation and Quality assurance for complex projects/tasks. Code review, Reviewing Test Cases and Business specification documents.

Work Allocation in team and tracking. Status reporting to Client and CSC’s senior managers.

Responsible for providing estimates for new enhancement requests from client. Estimate, cost benefit analysis and scheduling for new projects and/or business requirements.

Details of Project:

This is a production support cum maintenance project. This is a platinum project for HCL which will generate annual revenue of around 75 million. RDA has more than 18 branches across globe. Every branch acts as a separate unit and using different technologies. It was a challenge for us to do the transition for all these units and to understand the system quickly. A lot of penalty clauses were also put by RDA which will be used in case we fail to support the system. In this project we needed to prepare understanding for around TOPS Delivery Services operations.

Fulfillment Systems are at the heart of Reader’s Digest business strategy. In the 80’s, Reader’s Digest Canada started a project to develop a custom system that would support their fulfillment needs. The system was named as TOPS. TOPS stands for “The Operations & Promotions System”. TOPS is a computerized system to handle Reader’s Digest direct mail activities.

Responsibilities:

Transition lead for knowledge transition from Jan'09 to Mar’09 at Montreal, QC, Canada.

Analyzed the system both functionally and technically. Prepared Runbook operational document and got sign-off from client with presentation on understanding of TOPS Delivery Services operations.

Resolving production abends. Trouble-shooting all types of production batch problems and impact. Maintaining incident resolution documentation to allow for quick resolution of future batch issues.

Working and coordinating with the necessary development and technical teams to solve performance, stability, and monitoring issues within Batch processes.

Making sure the batch load of TOPS countries are running fine and if there are any problems need to diagnose and resolve.

Modification of JCL as per user requirements. Running jobs as per override or input file provided by the user.

Project: Smart Manage – AT

Client: Network Operations Centre (HCL)

Details of Project:

Smart Manage is a fully integrated Network Intelligence package that lets you keep track of the usage patterns within your corporate network. It gives you a deep insight into your network and helps you to optimize resources and save costs.

Smart Manage works behind the scenes, without interrupting the normal workflow, and captures all relevant information on the data flowing through your network. The network flow data is captured from one of the core routers through which all traffic is routed and collected in a Collector machine. The Collector agent then send this data to the database which keeps filtering out the irrelevant information and aggregates the data before storing them in a user-friendly manner. The User Interface accesses this data in response to customize queries and shows up the results in user-friendly graphical reports. This product has modules namely collector, aggregator, admin, reporter.

Responsibilities:

Prepared user requirements and technical specifications accordance to business rules.

Worked on Aggregator module which deals in typical concepts of Core Java with Multithreading, Thread Synchronization and SQL stored procedures.

Used JDBC for connectivity with database. Used log4j for logging the runtime information. Used Castor API for XML Parser.

Used Quartz API from open symphony, which is used for creating simple or complex scheduled for executing jobs and support cron-like expression of setting the job behavior.
