Recruited to provide operations leadership for promising startup. Oversaw multi-site manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, inventory control, production planning, ingredient purchasing (MRP), and forecasting, sales cost control and customer service. Responsibilities included the management of a $1.4M budget and full COGS P&L responsibility.

Led Cost-Effective Contract Manufacturing Initiative. Suncore sought a contract manufacturer to support their national product launch. Pinpointed a highly flexible operation that agreed to partner with us. Maintained 3.5 weeks of supply, reducing costs from a projected $5.40 per case to $3.07 with no loss of quality. Efforts saved $4M and delivered a 44% profit margin.

Slashed Third-Party Logistics Costs. Suncore faced a 45% warehousing rate increase, which would negatively impact margins. Assessed the company’s needs, located a new vendor to provide a multi-site logistics operation. Negotiated a favorable contract that reduced freight and storage by $.02/case.

Consolidated Process, Reducing Freight Costs. Suncore’s shipping costs for Wal-Mart were out-of-control. Developed and implemented a distribution consolidation solution that cut the per-case shipping cost to $0.68, saving ~$70K.

Negotiated Favorable Shipping Costs for National Product Launch. As a startup, Suncore needed a supply chain that would provide a realistic cost-per-case shipping estimate. Improved Forecasting. The company’s forecast absolute accuracy was 72%. Sensing that the Marketing Department, who was in charge of the forecast, was a bit too optimistic, proposed that the Logistics Department take control of the process.
